Aluminum Roof Vent Latch

I think I can finally make a post about it because I have the final product in hand!

Josh and I (read: 99.9% Josh) worked on fitting up these completely custom CNC'd roof vent latches without the need for any NLA OEM parts. After I think 3 (maybe 4?) iterations and like.. some years I think Josh finally nailed it, and he even let me pay him for an anodized one! I resued one of my OEM parts just because I happen to have them, but they are definitely not required.

It uses magnets to hold in both open an closed states, won't ever break, and the black looks fantastic! I've rocked the non anodized prototype in the car for a year or so, and was finally able to get the final one installed tonight. Love it.

Go buy one from Josh... I'll have to update this with a link at some point.

The black anodized one is awesome looking! I ended up picking up a couple latches from Bakemono, are those the same design as Josh's setup?
I believe Josh was making them for Trey, yeah.

Looks great. Let us know where we can get one. I bought a similar one a while back from this guy in New Zealand, but i don't remember the company name. I don't think he makes them anymore
Different than that guy, this is an entire mechanism that replaces all of the OEM parts.

Parking Brake Cables

Little know fact... this car has had a barely functional parking brake for like... 4 years. Figured I'd finally replace the last parts in the system before everything is NLA...

I used a GC part number for one side of the cables, but a GD for the other. I can't recall what part number logic I did to come up with the right cables, but they fit great, easy swap. The old ones were definitely stretched... though I also can't recall if they were the ones that came with the R180 hubs. I seems to recall using the GC ones still back then.

Either way, parking brake works a charm.

(don't mind the leaking axle seals -_-)

I might need to replace my cables, still messing around with adjustment. What made you replace them? tightening didn't work?

So this is a weird one... not gonna make a standalone post for it.

I decided to go back to my V4 STi wheel as the Nardi just... never felt right. I think the column needs to be completely swapped out for this wheel to work for me with the later gen interior. The distances to the seat were just all messed up, and I don't like the wheel in the car as much as I like looking at it on a shelf.

Luckily I made everything easy to pop the clockspring back in and resolder one wire. So I did just that, while also adding back in the airbag light in the cluster.

While I was in there I swapped out the chopped up column trim with some lovely looking new to me stuff.

I feel so much more at home in the car again :)

While I was playing with the GC, I gave it a nice scrub down with this new "graphine" spray on wax stuff. I guess it looks shiny. I also finally poked a local paint shop about my new parts to get painted... this summer for real!

Does this mean the clockspring adapter is for sale?
