Walbro fuel pump average life span/cycle?

My Walbro 255 died on me not long ago after installing it in the summer of 2006, so I got about 8.5 years out of it.

I'm wondering, is this a good life span out of this pump? Or did I fall victim back in 06 and had a knock-off this entire time? I still have the pump...

The car that I have is a '92 Ford Taurus SHO, and I had the fuel pump replaced. A factory pump was pulled from it. A local couldn't find the part number, and I found out off SHO FORUM about Walboro pumps used by the factory. I pulled a fuel pump secondary trouble code and the car is classified as a high emitter by California standards.

Cool story bud! I'm not surprised that a yamaha 3.0L v6 from 1992 is considered a gross polluter by californistan. cut the cats and send it!
