Sounds like an alterator. I got one if you need.

 

so is it coincident that it show up with the battery light? is it safe to drive it? i need to drive to autozone tomorrow and have it test out.

Alternator/charging system, when the charging system isnt working subarus will show a parking rake light and battery light, check fuses, then take the alternator to shucks to have it tested, my money is on the alternator though

 

I bet its the alt. when i detail my engine and dont fully dry the alt it will show those lights so money is def on the alt.

 

Had the same thing happened to me and it was my alternator. I also have an RS alternator if you are interested.

Can't be that much, the one I have sitting in my room from them was around $100 I believe. Maybe the plug being different makes it jump up that high, I surely hope not!

I've had this problem too and it was the alternator/voltage regulator. Don't pay $260 for an alternator ever! Search around--they're much cheaper. You could also go to an alternator/starter shop and they can rebuild/rewind it for you for way less than that.

 

got a new one installed today, problem solved. Thanks everyone.. lol I paid $150, after the core refund and coupon discount.

I know man, I woulda bought it from u if I can wait.. money well spent, I also replaced the half ripped V belt while I was there... Why do I feel more HP with the new alternator? lol

 

The car needs electrical power to help run, such as injectors, fuel pump, ECU, etc... If you have irregular electrical power, then your car might have trouble running properly.
