ok so my boss is gonna trade me a 98 2.5 for my 96 2.2

heads got pulled today and sent out to the machine shop to be checked over, full gasket kit ordered from subaru. im keeping the 2.5 stock for now because this is already a 30hp gain over my 2.2 i have in my OB right now.

what im wondering, when you swapped in the 2.5 did you just reuse your stock harness off the 2.2 intake onto the 2.5? thats what i figured i would do. also ECU? since my car is a 96, and the 96 legacy outback came with a 2.2 and not the 2.5 i should be able to just run the 2.5 off my 2.2 ecu right?

i ordered a uprated exedy clutch kit for a 2.5rs today so that should be here soon, about the same time the heads are back from the machine shop.

i plan on a full write up while doing the swap, but just trying to get some base info on what all i need to change.

i work at a subie wrecking yard so i have plenty of parts on hand for whatever i end up needing.

Thanks,
Shean

You already got it, but the intake manifold from a Phase I 2.2 will not fit on a DOHC or Phase II SOHC motor.
Good news is a Phase I SOHC ECU will RUN a PhaseI DOHC motor - you already did it so I'm a little late.

I'm not sure how good a deal the trade was as those old 2.5's are famous for blowing headgaskets - which is probably why your boss traded motors with you.
