Hey,
Long time lurker and not finding what I need with search. I inherited a set of DOHC heads that were "reworked" (not sure what that ment...) - plan on taking them to a machinist to make sure the deck/head is good.
The DOHC heads are shim over bucket and since they are out it would be nice to just bench test the valve clearance and make sure they don't need additional work. I can't seem to find any instructions online at all. Everyone seems to recommend installing them and getting the timing belt on and then checking. Seems kinda silly to me.
Does anyone have any experience with bench testing clearances or at the very least know where the tip of the cam lobe should be in relation to the shim when gauging (for example 45 degrees? 90... 180 degrees?)??
Thanks in advance for any input.
