Jdm V8 Spec C ECU Problem

As title says, i have a Jdm Version 8 Spec C Ecu
Heres my problem As soon as i turn the key to the on possition it sends the cel flashing at me, and its the same kind of flash that you would get from a usdm ecu sensing misfire. Then once i start the car it continues to flash. It never stops. I used my cheep autozone reader on it while it was flashing and it presented me w/ no codes. But when i took it for emissions they would have let it pas w/ the Cel flashing but they failed me because their obd2 computer would not connect. I could have sworn that i was told that this ecu was obd2 operable.
Any ideas ??

The ecu not communicating is probably not a related problem. Many people have had issue in different states when attempting to pass obd-2. Try some different places or try to get the car inspected through 'other means'.

As for the flashing CEL...are you in test mode? Did you try unplugging your test mode connectors?

Paul,

Give Kevin at GT a call (949.306.3636). He might have some insight for ya. :)

As for it being OBDII compliant... there is no such thing as a JDM Subaru ECU that's OBDII compatible.

Will do thanks

Ok, as far as the I-Speed getting a jdm motor to pass thing: They used a jdm wrx, non sti, with tgv's and an american ecu for the CARB cert and then converted it to AVCS. Even version 5 and 6 had OBD2 ports. You need to check your wiring to the OBD port. It MAY be wired fine, and the smog guy can't connect to it. This past weekend we were all at the Prodrive dyno day. Not a single WRX could connect to the dyno, but every STi could. It could just be not compatable with the smog computer. The flashing cell is really weird. You could be getting the misfire code. How did you go about this swap? I start with an American WRX harness, and then add 4 wires and switch 8 pins on various ecu and engine harness plugs. If you didn't switch the pins, it would make perfect sense. Can a delta dash hook up to it? This would tell you if the AVCS is working or not, which is where the pin switching happens. Good luck guys.
Kevin

ps, my car owned the dyno day puting down more power than Crawford Performance and Harmon Motive!

Kevin, This car is using a 05 WRX wireing harness. As well as an IAP AVCS kit. Which i might add is installed correctly, that was the first thing i checked into. Yes DD connects to it fine, and so do cheap OBD2 readers. The only question i have is about the Flashing CEL. Its something that ive never seen before, unless a car was misfireing, which this car is not. Thanks for the input.
