OK. so my 01 RS is clicking. if i am driving along and come to full stop, something will click, but only once. if i, from a stop, reverse and turn the wheel there will be one to two clicks. if i turn from a stop in either direction i will hear one to two clicks. even at a stop if i just turn the steering wheel all the way to one side..click....then turn it all the way to the other side....click.

i have jacked the car up and physically checked for any leaks, holes, or whatever in the CV joints. i found nothing. does anyone have any idea what is going on?

DUDE, i have this click exactly "OK. so my 01 RS is clicking. if i am driving along and come to full stop, something will click, but only once" but i have a 99rs. is it one pretty loud CLICK? that is what i have, i have not had problems with the turning, and it has clicked a few times in reverse, only when i start to go in reverse tho. nobody has ever figured it out, or at least anyone that has heard it or knew what i was talking about.

haha....funny that everyone has the same problems. i also have the clicking noise on my 99 rs. Do either of you other guys have aftermarket rims? i know i have p1's on my car and i think it is from the difference in wheel sizes....i have also put my car in the air and tried to figure it out. haven't been able to see anything! if you figure it out let me know.

My 01RS does a double click once in a while but only when approaching stop signs and I'm almost at a dead stop. I don't notice it any other times. I'd like to know what it is too. Only suspension part I upgraded is the rear sway bar.

This sounds like the same sound that I have and the dealer told me that it's the brake pads shifting in the carrier.
I guess what happens is, a layer of corrosion and crud can build up under the metals clips that sit in the guides of the carrier and cause the pads to fit too tightly and not slide smoothly.
This is especially probable if the guides weren't cleaned and filed under the clips when the brakes were done. As I did my brakes and didn't do this, it all makes sense.

i had no idea so many would hqave the same problem.

well i also put this thread in Nasioc and was told that it couold be the brake clips also. that either the clip was loose, possibly missing, or just dirty. the other thing that i was told it could be is the axle nut. a few people at nasioc had thisw same pproblem and they said that tightening the axle nut took the click away. i will try this out and see if it solves the "Clicking Issue". then let you guys now so we can all be click free.

i want to be Click free and proud!

thanks for all the replies.

well i know it isnt suspension related at all. Gran Turismo East assured me of this after checking everything. also checked to make sure the axle nuts were tight and staked, they both were. so going to Classic Subaru for new front brake pads and rotor service. then get an alignment and hopefully the click will be gone.

then touge touge touge

I get a single click sound from the front of my car when I leave from a stop. I don't it hear every time that I start from a start just sometimes, hmmmmmmmmm? I'll look at my brakes. It's nothing that I feel through the car just a single click.

well with changing the front brake pads the click is not an all the time thing anymore. it is still there when i am in reverse and turning and sometimes when i come to full stop, but no where near as much. right now i am trying to find the last time the diff. fluids were changed. hopefully this will lessen the 'click' even more. i hope.

changing the front brake pads made a huge difference overall.

i have some sort of clicking noise or something weird when my car is moving or even in neutral and I start rev'ing a little. It sounds like my car is running over alot of loose gravel but my cars not moving at all. Anyone know what this might be?

Sorry if this is me highjacking your thread since I think we're both having different types of "clicking"

have you checked your tie rods and lateral links. possible one or more might be loose or something, thus causing a slight click while turning. this was going to be my next thing to look into if the new pads and resurfaced rotors didnt work.

would def. check the rock thing if nothing else. good luck

wait, revving in nuetral while moving, or sitting still and revving in nuetral?

no, its not motor mount. its a clicking noise when you are going in reverse with the breaks on OR off and also when you are moving slowly forward coming to a stop. Nobody knows, i work at a shop and had every mechanic and myself look at it and none of us can figure it out

My problem is just a one click deal. Sometimes when i'm driving slow (15MPH) and then stop, i get a click. Sometimes when i start the car, i get the click. The starting one was what made me think it might be a motor mount problem. The motor is the only thing moving when you start the car.

ITs making like a grinding/clicking sound when turning at slow speeds or turning in reverse. usually its when the stearing wheel is turned most of the way or all of the way. if its just a slight turn or a sharp turn while driving at regular speeds it will not make it
