Every now and then I like to post up pics showing regularly discussed topics, this one being the difference between the three most popular US turbo blocks. The STI motor broke due to a problem with a boost controller which ended up in putting down well over 20 lbs during initial tuning.

personally this reconfirms my like of the 22T block. :D

wedge, you only changed out the rods and pistons correct? what compression ratio? did you keep the 8.0:1?

It seems like everyone hates on the EJ22T, but from this novice's eyes, it looks like a good cost performance route.

I don't think the EJ257 has been around long enough to claim that title yet, but I think it will eclipse the best overall performance and tuning durability.
Exactly.

When I finally do a swap, I'll be going 22. How can you go wrong with the best block Subaru has ever made?

I think the best in the new 207 but that comes at a very steep price compared to a used 22t.
The money that you'll spend to do the 2.2 RIGHT (only using the case halves and crank) is going to eclipse the cost of a STi swap (JDM or USDM) and it still won't be as fast or reliable.

Ask Wege...:)
