I already did a search...not much luck.

2001 rs around 75,000 miles

Car wont go into 2nd gear. 1st gear is a bit rough little grinding, have to force it in. 3rd, 4th, 5th, & reverse has no problem. Sometimes wont be able to go into any of the gears. Anybody had this problem? or solution?

any help will be appreciated.

Automatic or manuel tranny. Either way check the tranny fluid and replace with uncle scotties mix. If that doesn't solve the problem you got yourself a borked tranny.

Goodluck.

Edited because I didn't read carefully enough. Replace Tranny fluid with provided mix.

+1 on checking/replacing the fluid. Also, make sure your shift linkage isn't either coming apart, or bent. I've got a Perrin Short-shift adapter, and one time it got loose, and when it was slding up and down on the shaft, I had a tough time getting into 2nd, too. Hope it's nothing too serious, or expensive...

+1. Check to make sure your clutch is disengaging properly. Possibly bleed the clutch... although if you have to do that, usually the slave cylinder is bad.

Oh yeah, make sure you're pushing the clutch down all the way too.

75k miles is awfully early for a tranny to be goin.... unless of course she was abused...

if you have a hydraulic system, it would definitely be a good idea to get it checked out. check for leaks, faulty master or slave cylinder, or you could just have air in the system.

or... if you have a cable set up (which i doubt you do cause you drive a '01), see if you can adjust it by tightening up the nut on the shift fork on the bellhousing.

fluid change never hurts either

If it were the synchros it would still go into gears, it would just grind. So if by "won't go into gears" the OP means it grinds... then it's probably the syncros. If he means that it just doesn't go, the clutch is not disengaging and the synchros are doing their job, but they can't match the revs with the engine still turning the gears...hence he's just grinding them down but it's not going in.

Nice, I've never been able to downshift into first gear while I'm rolling, I always have to slip it in second if I can't get to a complete stop. But neway glad it wasn't your tranny cause that woulda sucked real bad.
