Hello! Just took my 2001 Impreza 2.5 RS out for some spirited driving with my dad on a beautiful road straight out of Dirt Rally (Very rare in rural Alberta). The car did amazing and it was a ton of fun.
Then we went to drive back home. As soon as the car hits 3K revs in 4th or 5th gear it lurches, sputters and refuses to go past 3100 revs. It accelerates quickly and normally in until it reaches 3K. I was able to pass 3K in every other gear, but didn’t go past 5K so the issue might still be present just at higher revs in those gears.
The only thing I’ve done to the car recently was switch out my winter wheels/tires for some new all seasons on 2nd gen Impreza wheels. The battery hasn’t been disconnected etc.
Any ideas as to what the issue could be?
