I was just wondering if any-one with the kartbboy shifter and bushings having any problems with it being to stiff or notchy. I sometimes have problems with 2/3 and more the 3/4. 3/4 it sometimes feels like it gets stuck mometarily, i have to push it a lil to the pass seat then it slides into 4. I am think thats I might have the through bolt/nut to tight or the front bushing and nut ti tight. I am going to check them this weekend. any thoughts?
Also kind of hard to get in reverse sometimes when sitting still.

The reverse thing is normal, and does not depend on the shifter... it's simply the way the tranny is designed. If you can't put it in reverse, release the clutch pedal, press it in again, and try again...

The rest of the questions I'll leave to someone who actually has the Kartboy SS :)

I have a kartboy SS in my car, but not the bushings. I find that notchiness isn't to much of a problem, although i somtimes find that downshifting into 4th is a little tight. Getting into reverse can be a real pain with my car, but that didn't change when I put the Kartboy in.

make sure your thru bolt isn't too tight. if it's too tight, it will cause binding. the front bushing tightness shouldn't make a difference.

i installed each kb component individually and was shocked at how much each mod improved the shifting feel. so if this doesn't help, try lubing up the ball/socket in the shifter (i'd imagine you already did this). if that doesn't help, start looking at the mechanics of the transmission itself.

also, like said above, the reverse thing is normal. i usually have luck throwing it into second and then trying for reverse again.

Thanks guys I do remember that it was always difficult to get in rev. and yeah i put it in 1st and creep just a bit then it goes into rev. no problem. I will check the shifter through bolt on sat with a torque wrench (14 ftlbs right), and check the bushing nut too just to be safe. Other than that I like the kart-boy alot. very pleased.

P.S. I am going to install the kartboy knob too, black/red logo

Thanks...

the knob is def a step in the right direction too. screws on, always tight. the shape of it isn't a perfect ball, so i didn't like it at first, but now i love it.

the reason reverse is such a pain is because it has no synchros. The easy way to get it into gear is to go into any forward gear first, then go into reverse. I used 5th when I had a 5-speed in my car. The 6-speed doesn't seem to have this problem.

the pilot knob came w/ a few diffirent plastic sleeves to cover the threads. hopefully the threads are ok, last time i retightened it i checked them and i think they were fine. can't wait to intsall the KB knob:)

they should be ok. When i bought my car, the guy who owned it before me put superglue on the threads of the set screws on the shift knob that used to be on it. the shifter never moved, but it didn't want to come off either. i ended up having to twist it, and it totally screwed up the threads on my stock shifter.

hey all, I did check the bushing nut it was okay (added some thread-locker). checked the shifter arm through bolt it was pretty darn tight!, loosened it and put on threadlocker, then torqued it. installed my new KB knob. drove it and much better/smoother shifts! I am very happy!!! thanks again.
