When i start my car (03 TS wagon) after a night of sitting, it immediately starts idling at 3000 RPM and sometimes continues to go up. I tap the throttle and it drops (sometimes after a few taps) to 1500-2000 and then after a while it drops to normal when it heats up. Sometimes (especially at the beginning of driving, or in stop-go very hot traffic) the idle will stick to 2000 - 3000 RPM after I let off the throttle and slowly drop back down. This issue is intermittent. Any thoughts?
I loosened my throttle and cruise control cable so that there is enough slack (when cold) (although the cruise control cable is already at the end of the thread).
I took off the IACV and cleaned it. Should the IAVC be moving up and down loosely or is it very tight and hard to move by hand (mine is hard to move)?
Could this idle problem be caused by something else? I get a CEL once in a while (P0519) while driving, but this issue persists much more often (pretty much on each drive) then the CEL lights up.
