The dealer said there was some ridiculous amount of manuals for the 01' RS is that true or can you get it all from 1?

 

It's true.
There are like 15+ books because there is one for each section. There's an engine book, suspension book, brakes book, transmission book, body book, interior book, wiring diagram, general info, troubleshooting, and so on... Would prolly cost $300 to buy them all.
I downloaded everything in .pdf format from Subaru's web site. It costs $20 for 24 hrs. access. Download as much as you can in 24hrs. for $20 (even manuals for other models). I got the 2001 RS and the 2002 WRX.

Everything from 1993 to 2004. All Impreza models and all model years as well as Legacy, Forester, SVX, Outback.
