I appreciate the help guys. The only reason i was considering having the shop do it is because they warranty all the work and parts. Plus its easier to take motor and tranny out together rather then seperate. Also not everyone has time for this kind of stuff and would rather pay someone who has the time to do it. With 50-60hr work weeks, college, and a baby, its hard to find time to **** let alone work on cars. I have a mk1 vw rabbit truck that i did a swap in years ago that has been waiting for me to finish painting it...has that happend? Nope.
I will be doing this myself now so all the help is needed. They wanted to charge 2k just for the tranny, driveshaft, rear diff, and axles and then all the additional parts needed to make it work in an auto was seperate. Thanks for that list josh. I have a pdf of all trannys and ratios already which is why i ask about the wrx tranny cause it has the fd and 5th ratio i need but i want to make sure it will handle 300whp. Plus i want the .738 5th which looks to be more rare one.
Also its not the mechanical part im worried about, though i do wanna have all my ducks in a row before ripping tranny out, but rather its the connectors and the wiring for the tranny i need to figure out. The diy says something about splicing one of the 2 wire connectors together to make the ecu think its in park in order to start the car and fuel pump. Can anyone clarify what to do with these connectors? Thanks again everyone?
