I have helped my dad do engine swaps for his chevelle but i think this is going to be quite harder... I was wonder first off what transmition will mate up to this engine, i have read some threads and they say a sti trans should mate up to this but what year tranny??? Any suggestion would be greatly apperciated.

Thank you,

Well the wiring is like anything else only the SVX was wired like two three cylinder motors. Thats why it has two knock sensors and crank sensors. I would think start with the SVX harness if you can. Though it has alot more HVAC and power control stuff. If you start with the RS harness you have then you have to splice alot of wires for the engine. It would be alot easier to just run a stand alone because the SVX ecu even being a OBD1 ecu will still be touchy just like a OBD2 ecu.

I can tell you cant use a EJ ecu because the crank triggers are different and swaping them out doesnt do a damn bit of good because EJ triggers are ment for wasted spark or COP for four cylinders. They cant do a six cylinder COP.

You could use a piggyback for a tune. People do that all the time for 1.8 to 2.2 swaps or 2.2 to 2.5 swap. That wouldnt be a problem if they had the same trigger wheels. The SVX wheel is a 12-1 with a older EJ being 4+2. The 4+2 wheel cant do six cylinders because it doesnt have enough teeth. Plus a EJ ecu doesnt have six spark channels. The max for them is a turbo ecu with COP and they only have four.
