So it turns out I ended up purchasing a FWD Impreza L Wagon when I was actually looking to buy a 4WD... I know I know stupid move. Is there a way or even a write up on how to convert it to a 4WD with what I will need?

oh man! i was gonna buy this sexy red coupe, then i was looking at the non existent rear diff, and i cried... the guy was selling it for 700 with the blown engine too. for a second i thought the same as you, AWD conversion..
Have fun with it, at least we learn on this things
I've never seen a 4WD Impreza...I think you mean AWD (All-wheel drive)...yes, there is a difference.
You need the rear end and driveshaft from an AWD, as well as the rear subframe, and various other parts that I don't remember at the moment. This has been done many times before, and if you search you'll find a complete guide.
Nothing against you but if you accidently bought a FWD subie... and don't know the difference between AWD and 4WD do you think u r capable of doing a swap to awd?
Just throwing this out there you could possibly just clean the car extensively and make the pictures pretty and possibly try to make a profit off of it.
Donald trump once said something like.. if you can spend 2 hours cleaning a car and get 300 extra bucks for it.. why wouldn't you?
haha good luck to ya man
Sell the L...B/C it'll probably cost just as much as you paid for it to convert it to AWD...Next time you buy an Impreza L, look for the "AWD" badge on the trunk. If there's not one visible...look underneath for a rear diff and axles...:\
Hahaha alright guys my bad... I learn new things everyday. Please excuse me for being human. I got the wagon for dirt cheap so I plan on keeping it. I KNOW I am capable of doing the swap and I KNOW I can figure out what I need if I were to look under another wagon that is actually awd... I just wanted to know if there were actually someone else out there that already did the swap and was nice enough to share the info with me.
Try to find all the parts from a donor car at the local ez pull. That will be the best and cheapest way to do it. it wont be easy though because all he bolts will probably be rusted and really hard to take off.
Let's say I was able to buy all the parts or 7 bills from a donor car. I'm pulling the parts so I'll know how everything goes. Once again I got the wagon for dirt so I don't think I'll find an awd cheaper than the car plus conversion. People keep saying less reliable. May you please explain why? Thanks guys
Its hard to tell if you are getting a good working transmission and rear differential. But concerning the conversion itself, If you install everything right, I dont see why it would have any reliability issues. If you pull it yourself at an ez pull junk yard it will probably only cost you like $300. The ez pull I goto sells trannys for $70.
It all applies to the Impreza...and to your situation.
