Thoughts, comments? I should be picking up a set in the next comming weeks. There's one problem though. One of the shocks needs to be recharged with nitrogen. Can any good suspension shop do this? Or will it need to be sent to like Endless USA or Endless Japan?

B6 I hear is very good. I was contemplating between the cusco Zero 2R and the special version of the B6 called the WRC ARAI EDITION (Tuned by WRC Works driver Toshihiro Arai). I ended up getting the cusco because they are supposedly more for autoX and Circuits as opposed to the Zeals, which are more for the twisty roads (I heard this in Japan, so plz don't flame me). From what I hear they are superb. As to the recharging of the shock, I would have the manufacturer do it, just because I would feel safer that way. IfI'm pretty sure reputable suspension shops are able to do it, but...

I love the twisty roads! That's where the car is most of the time. :D These are comming off a V4 STi clip, so they're used, but hey, when a good deal pops up you gotta take it! As far as recharging the shock, I'll see what happens with em. I may send them to Endless, I may not since they're used.

Do you have any idea how many miles/km the coilovers have been used for? If it has been used for quite a bit, you could get them overhauled (I don't think it costs too much) and it'll function like it is brand new.

Edit: I can't spell

Im not sure on the mileage. I'll ask the guy I'm gettin them from. For the overhaul, I'm guessing I'd have to send them to Endless USA? OR Japan? (I hope USA!) Do you have any contact info on them?

Phone # for endless USA is 310 553 8900
E-mail is [email protected]
Their address is 22104 South Vermont Ave. #105, Torrence, CA, 90502

I'm pretty sure you could get them overhauled by a certified technician, not necessay Endless USA, because in Japan, a lot of tuners does overhaul them.

Boy do they look used!:p . If you can find somebody to overhaul it, it'll work just like if it is new. The strut mount seems rusted, but it looks like its only a surface rust. It's really all up to you. Are you willing to take the risk? I personally think you'll be all set if you can get it overhauled and maybe get new top mounts, but that's just me.

Are you sure they are Zeals? They don't look like them...

They are ZEALs, take a look at the top mount in the 2nd picture, it's etched in. But I'm definately leaning towards not getting them now. The coil threads even look rusted.

Dude, anything made of steel will rust over a period of time, they just need to be scrubbed with a wire brush and conditioned a little. I would certainly send them to the manufacturer for a rebuild though... with that age on them the seals are sure to need attention. The fact that one needs to be recharged is a sure indicator that the seals are going.

The only reason one needs to be recharged is because the current owner took it apart to inspect the shock, don't ask me why. I got a respose from him saying they have less than 10K miles on them, but they are also 2 years old.

Those Zeals definately are not too bad. You guys are just getting hung up on the dirt and the little bit of rust that's on them. They just need to be cleaned up a bit and recharged i guess as mentioned before. I would definately have the manufacturer take at look at them though just 'casue they're gonna know the most about what needs to be done to have your coilovers work to the best of their potential.

How much are you paying for these? Zeal is JIC, and those look like the non adjustable dampening ones. See how small the shaft is? I would never buy used suspension, especially off of a wrecked car. If you are hooked on the struts, I can give you a good deal on a new set.
