so im working like 12 hours shifts since ive been activated by tha army, so i just wanted to give my 01 rs a tune up, so i changes teh oil rotate the tire......etc. so i call down to the local parts shop and what do you knwo they dont have any air filters to replace the stock one and i dont want to spend 50 bucks for a K&N when im going to upgrade soon, so i call the local subaru dealership and ask if they hav some, they do. so i have my girlfriend go over to the dealership to get the filter. so she walks up to the parts counter guy and
says "yea, im here to pick up an air filter"
the counter guys says "ok, what make and model?"
she say "its a 2001 subaru impreza." and what does the counter guys say.....
"oh is it a WRX?"
I cant believe this!!! how can a dealership be so friggin stupid!!!!
no wonder so many morons out there have WRXs even the people selling the darn cars dont have a clue! so anyway I just had to share my experience with the RS club.

That is pretty irritating. At least the person knew the WRX was an Impreza, seems like most new WRX owners glance over that little fact.

Nick C.
Yeah, that sucks..

So did you get your air filter? ;)
well since this is the only dealership within like 40 miles of me she did get the air filter personally i cant say i would have still gotten it, im still flaming about this one though, i cant beleive it, maybe i should start selling subaru, but then again i wouldnt be that good since i wouldnt sell one to any of those idiots out there, especially some parents getting they stupid kids one. oh well ife goes on.
and so will the RS.
Ain't the first time i've heard stuff like dat!
Dealers don't get paid to know anything about the cars. Technicians neither.

Sorry to hear about that though...

I just 3G on a new engine for my Fiancee's New Beetle. They replaced the battery three months back($100+ for a freekin battery!!) They don't run a diagnostic and give us the car back. We didn't find out that something was missing till the car overheated, in motion, and torched itself. Now they say it's our fault the didn't run the diag. and we should have picked up on the missing part(a fuse burried deep in the bay - right under the $100 battery)... They say it's our fault the car died... Last week I wrote a check for $3000. Now my lawyer is going to get back as much as he can. Not much.

Dealers suck. Cars suck. Imprezas with inteligent support from places like RS25 rule!

I say, next time your in the area stop in at that dealer and give them a bit of a hard time...

I don't know what's worst. That the Dealer assumes that all Imprezas sold would be a WRX, that nobody would want to buy an RS, TS, or OBS after the WRX came out. Or the Dealer is so ignorant that he didn't know that there's no such thing as a 2001 N.American WRX. All N.Am WRX's on the road today are MY 2002.
Think one of my favorites was a dealer near me had no Impreza's let alone RS's on their lot when I was looking to buy and when the WRX came out they were suddenly advertising that they were your WRX headquarters.  Every car on their lot was a Forester or Outback Limited.

I don't think he was stereo typing, just pointing out some facts. Knowlege of the history of the cars you are selling/working on is not mandatory, although there are techs (like you) who are true enthusiests and know their stuff. But I'll bet you have worked with someone at some time who knew squat about the cars he was dealing with, and just bs'd and used big words he heard on a commercial to make it sound like he did.

I called my local dealer looking for a trunk net for
an impreza wagon, and he asked,
"for a wrx wagon?". Guess he assumed I had a
wrx, but it was for my mom's 2000 impreza wagon.
Are the old impreza wagons GC8 as well?
sunny
G
No. Old Impreza wagons are GF4. Impreza L sedans are GC4. Impreza L coupes are GM4. Impreza RS sedans are GC6. Impreza RS coupes are GM6.

Justin - Ha. I just noticed that you're talking about Capitol auto mall... Those guys....
right you are horatio102 the very guys at the capitol auto mall, they dont know crap about any kind of car. i dont know how they sell anything either since they wanted to to charge me like a couple thousand over invoice for my RS, i laughed at them and then went home called the dealership in tacoma said i had talked to the internet sales guy and he sai si could have it for $100 over invoice and they said no problem, wne up there that day came back with my RS. it was a good day. justin
I don't even bother with the local dealer. They sell Subaru, Jeep, Porsche, BMW, Oldsmobile, and Nissan. Since they sell Olds, they do all gm cars, and I'm betting not one of the techs knows anything about Subarus. They are most likely all trained in gm and chrysler since they have the worst repair records. I tried calling them but was left on hold for 20 minutes at least. They are a [email protected]%#*ng joke! After one trip to them for some parts which nobody behind the parts counter had any idea about, I decided to drive an hour to the next closest dealer. They only sell Subaru and Toyota and much more friendly and knowledgable than those ignorant :curse: :curse: :curse: at the local dealer.

Don't go to Yark if you are near Toledo, OH!

I feel much better now.
