who has one of the Loudest exhausts?

I'm looking to replace my stromung with either header back or an entire exhaust system. What's out there that is loud but not so loud the cops pull you over. Of course it has to perform and not just sound nice.

scooby sport back box with a good mid pipe is LOUD..
My stromung with Borla header is pretty loud though..cops watch me all the time...
The Apex N-1 is pretty noisey too, especially with a mid pipe.
Brullen's can be bought with diffrent noise levels, low, medium and loud....depends on resonators and type there of..
My personal favorite, next to my set up that is, is the Blitz NUR spec with header...
Come on, now, bill. You want your car to contribute to both noise AND visual pollution?

You love my C-West grill don't deny it Roy :)
Sure I love your C-West grill.... Hot dogs and hamburgers have a much prettier grill pattern on them when I use it over the weber....

I have a 3 inch open pipe going from the outlet of the turbo to the tail. Only a high flow racing cat is in the path.

It is really very manageable. Floating the pedal just right will let you drive past cops, even ones at random check-points out of their cars. Yet people 4 cars back can hear you take off to pass someone. And parking garages! Oh man. You can come down one engine braking at about 2.5k and EVERY alarm will go off. And people cover their ears, well, non-enthusiasts anyway.

I've got a custom 2.25" cat-back system with a resonator and a Magnaflow muffler. Sucker's loud. I was surprised, and to be honest, it's too loud for me - even with the resonator.

I'm now looking for a different muffler. Don't get me wrong - I think the Magnaflow is a great product. The quality looks top-notch, the price is great, and the power difference was noticeable in the upper rpm's. For me, however, the straight-through design is too loud and boomy in the car. On long trips I put cotton in my ears.:)

Mhhh... Blitz NUR Spec  I want one ! I need more money though :(
I have the Scooby Sport exhaust with a custom mid pipe and it is quite loud. When I go to the local mall (Redmond Town Center) I always can set off car alarms at will in the large all concrete garage:biggest: . If you get the gas right around 2.5k and then take your foot off the gas all the car alarms will chirp.......freakin yuppies:rolleyes:
I've got a Hayame w/ a custom 2.25" mid-pipe. Revving the engine in neutral to about 3000 RPM's gets me to about 120 dbA at 20" from the tip (that's how cops are supposed to measure exhaust noise levels here in CA). I'll turn on my car and set off alarms close by. I can set off the warnings on alarms in mall-type parking lots with my foot OFF the gas (since it's a 4EAT).

how much was your system? i'm going turbo soon so i have to get rid of my N1 and get something a little more 3". right now i'm thinking custom 3" through with 3" magnaflow race muffler. any other suggestions are welcome though.
Bill, you've heard mine, you tell me if that sounds good or too loud.
tom, your system sounds similar to my stromung.

I like the N1 look.

Check out http://www.exhaustproslinc.com for prices on Magnaflow mufflers. That's where I got mine. As for the rest of the piping - I probably spent too much to get all stainless, around $300.

Hope it goes well for ya.:D
which muffler did you get? is there a good size to keep in mind?
I got the M-14805 - 2.25" inlet with dual 3.5" tips. I would have preferred 3" tips just to look a little more subtle, but the choices for that muffler are 3.5 or 4".

If you're going turbo you'll need a larger inlet size, probably 2.5-3". Since I'm still N/A I don't know offhand which size is best, so you'll probably want to talk to some of the turbo guys. I think the Magnaflow will complement a turbo well and I believe the turbo will muffle the sound level a little.
