I'm sorry if this is a bit repetitive but I'm having a little trouble finding a site to purchase the full exhaust system I'm looking for... After reading up on the forums and listening for hours on youtube I think I know what exhaust system I want to put on my 05 RS to replace my current catback exhaust (Which is currently a welded-to-fit WRX apexi catback 3" catback exhaust, Sounds great but probably isnt delivering any improved performance).

1. Borla Replica Headers
2. Random Technology High Flow Cat
3. Apexi n1 catback or stromung catback exhaust

What do you guys think? Sound alright?

I also currently have a Cosmo racing SRI... Bought it online for around $100 and put a big K&N filter on it. Other mods I plan on adding to my car soon are a grounding kit, lightened flywheel, and cobb front and rear sway's. I also currently have tein s-tech springs on my car which I hear wear out the stock struts extremely quickly. I'm thinking of swopping them out to Cobb springs. I know this is intake and exhaust thread but feel free to write your opinion on cobb suspension upgrades.

My real question though is can anyone offer a good site to order these parts from? I know I can buy the replica headers on ebay but I can't find a decent site to purchase the other two exhaust compenents. Also what do you think of that exhaust system, and am I on the right track for improving my cars performance?

Thanks guys

Sounds good although I don't know if you would really need the highflow cat

I currently have the borla reps with a cheap axleback exhaust and it sounds great. I also am going to be getting either the Stromung or a prodrive. Cmiovino is on this site and he has a prodrive exhaust and it sounds great

www.boxer4racing.com for randomtech hfc and stromung catback. personally, i went with a stromung trackpipe instead of a hfc, cuz its way cheaper, and its less restrictive. if you happen to have the car registered in carson city county (like me) then you dont have emissions testing, so its not a big deal. but you may have issues passing emissions even with a hfc, and you may also get a cel.

Thanks for the responses guys! Yes boxer4racing.com was the site I was looking for, I couldn't remember the name from a few months ago!

Yeah I am in the Carson Valley area, my car is also registered here and I'll be living in reno for college next year. Good to know someone with a 2.5 is close. Bigrobwoot if you are interested in buying a complete car audio system for your car PM me, I am selling my system in my RS! It's very nice.

But anyway!

Hmm I wasn't aware that you could put headers on and still use the stock cat.. wouldnt the piping go from 2.25" down to a smaller pipe which would cause problems? Like it would go headers(2.25")--->stock cat(1.75")--->catback exhaust(2.5")

But yeah I am defenitely going to buy the borla replica headers and most likely that track catless midpipe. As far as my current exhast goes (modded apexi 3" catcback WRX exhast) should I keep that and run 3" catback or go with a new catback? I think that 3" is a little too big and might actually make me loose performance for daily driving. Not to mention my car would probably be suuupppperrr loud with 3" catback and a track midpipe with the rep headers.

Any input is appreciated... thanks guys!

Carson High or Douglas? What's your major gonna be? Dorms?

No I don't need a stereo system, I've got a decent one already. Thanks tho.

The headers should fit with your stock cat, I've heard of plenty of people running that setup. If you get a hfc or a trackpipe you should get at least a smaller midpipe to keep up exhaust flow, but I think the axle back should be fine.

Yes the headers will fit with the stock cat I am running this setup right now, and no problems. No CEL either and I had them on since July 5th

Douglas High, I actually graduated last year. My major is business but I am also signed up for some political science classes, I may change my major. I lived in Argenta hall last year but this year I am living in a house with a few friends.

Alright so you're saying that I can put the headers on now and leave the rest of my exhaust. But if I put a HFC or race pipe on I should replace my catback exhaust to smaller piping.. like 2.25" or 2.5"? And just to make sure axleback is the piping after the cat right? As in the catback exhaust? So your saying get a smaller midpipe (the catback exhaust long pipe) right?

Doesn't it go in this order..

1. Headers
2. HFC or catless track pipe
3. Catback exhaust
4. Muffler

Right on, I went to Carson. Class of 05. I'm in civil engineering. I had some friends that lived in Argenta. They were too shy to try to meet people there tho, so you prolly dont know them haha. they're from spring creek and vegas. anywho:

Actually, the order of the exhaust is:
1. Headers (manifold)
2. catpipe (hfc, trackpipe)
3. midpipe
4. axleback

3 and 4 make up the catback (from the catpipe back)

I have borla replicas, stromung track pipe, and stock catback. gave me better low end, a lil more balls, and slightly better rumble. I'm waiting on a stromung single tip catback, which should make it sound way sick and open it up for slightly more power.

Oh yeah, in your first post, it says that you were thinking about an apexi n1 catback. they look sick, i almost bought one, but im pretty sure its not stainless steel, i think i heard that it was mild steel, which def means rust around here in the winter, what with all the snow and salt. Also, if you're interested, go to www.seccs.org, it's the local suby club. I just joined like last month, and they have weekly meets in reno. I've never been, but I want to at some point. I also have 2 buddies that are way into their wrx's, and they know a shitload about them. I learned a lot from here and nasioc. if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. There are definitely smarter people on these sites tho.

what color is your car? I wanna know what to look around town for

Thanks a lot man you were a lot of help. Yeah I'll figure something out, but in the meantime I'm going to order the borla replicas and the strmung track pipe prob, my exhaust will be pretty loud for a while but I'll get a new batback soon enough and sell my current exhaust.

My car is silver, tinted, and obviously lowered because of my tein S-techs... I also have a wing on my car. I'm looking for another local RS or WRX to trade my hood out with, I dont like the wing. But yeah we should meet up when I move up to Reno and check out our cars.

Yeah I'm down once I get up to Reno for sure. I'll PM you on here.

Last question... So I'm ordering the borla reps and the stromung high flow track pipe in a few days. now I am going to leave my current catback exhaust on... its a welded to fit 3" WRX apexi exhaust, do you think that setup will be SUPER loud? It would only be temporary till I order 2.25" or 2.5" catback exhast

I honestly don't know. My buddy had that exhaust on his wrx, but turbos quiet the exhaust down a bit. I didn't think his car was too loud tho, it sounded sick
