I currently have a stromung High-flow cat with a custom 2.25" mid pipe to a STI axelback and it sounds raspy. I don't have much money but can't live with this. I am trying to decide if I should try to buy a used Stromung axel back for around $200, or get a 18" resonator for $90 installed. I read that it could still sound raspy with the stromung. But I have also read that it might still sound raspy with the resonator. I have also heard that Borla or replicas will fix it but I don't think they will because I doesn't sound at all raspy with the muffler taken off, just really loud.
What should I do?

People that have told you this speak the truth. They are smart people. Headers will do you wonders.

I ran catless with stock headers with the stromung axle back. The stromung makes it sound alot deeper and keeps the raspiness away.
