My 2000 OBS has a bad exhaust leak and after taking a look, it seems the muffler has become entirely detached from the resonator; I'm assuming the bolts rusted off because New England.

So I am buying a replacement gasket, seems this Walker gasket will do the trick, but I don't know what hardware to use to bolt the flanges back together. I found this bolt kit but according to the diagram on the page, that's only for between the cat and the resonator.

So is there a special part I should be using, can I use the kit I linked, or should I grab some stainless steel nuts and bolts from Lowes- if so, recommendations on size?

Thanks!

You should be fine using 12mm or 14mm nuts and bolts in this area. The only special bolts needed in the exhaust piping is the spring-loaded ones at the cat...

Thanks, I picked up some M12x1.25 nuts and bolts at Lowes since they fit the exhaust gasket holes. A little pricey to be honest, 10 bucks for two bolts and two nuts, but it saves me a trip to the dealer.

If anyone finds this in a search later, I believe the "proper" Subaru parts are 901660014 for the bolt and 902350001 for the nut, per Opposed Forces.

As for the flange being rusted out, I expect as much but I'm hoping there's enough there for me to get the gasket in and tighten that s***** up. Even if it's not perfect, I hope it'll do for now. Not keen on spending any more money than I have to on exhaust at the moment.

Next time to by a Ace or something. Get SS bolts and nuts. Should be less than like $2-3.

That's where you just get some big ass washers to toss on there, so you can bolt it together.
