Picked up a 93' impreza base fwd. Bought it for $725 and was told it only needed a new front axle and had no a/c. Of course I believed him and didn't check it out as I really just needed a beater to drive around for a bit. I swore to myself I would just buy it/drive it around a few months as needed and then sell it.

So far new oil pan, new front axles, new ball joints, steering rack and lines were leaking so I swapped a smaller belt on to bypass the ps for now(actually love it). Also took out the all the seats and vacuumed the hell out of it as it had so much food and garbage inbetween seats and swapped in a JDM V2/3 passenger seat I had laying around. Not 100% sure what my future plans are but definitely not selling it like I was supposed to lol.

Bought my 2000 Outback Sport for $700 4 years ago.

It has been repaired, modded, and upgraded with another $7000 in parts. Although the chassis has close to 200k miles, it out performs many newer cars at 1/4 the price.

Just bought a '99 OBS with a clean title, no body issues (IE no rust, no accidents, no major dents/scratches) and 300k miles for $2000.

I sold my '95 coupe 4 years ago that had a salvage title due to quarter panel/door damage for $1600.

Bought an '01 OBS for $140 with about 220k miles clean title about a month ago. I definitely don't feel bad about learning how to weld and paint with it lol

1995 L, 1.8 AWD 5 speed.

I paid $6,000 to the original owners. That was in 2001 when it was 6 years old with almost 70,000 miles. It came with every receipt and service record since new. I still have all of it. I’ll bet I could still sell it for the same price today.

Paid $3500 for my 5 speed 2000 RS coupe in July 2016. Car came from Tennessee - immaculate! Owner had just replaced timing components, seals, head gaskets, all fluids, and new tires with all Subaru OEM parts with receipts! 128k on the odometer. Interior is all black leather and in pretty good shape. Clear coat on the roof, hood, & trunk were beat due to extensive life in southern sun. Seller was super cool guy - sending me extensive videos of car running, pics of every part of the car, & pics of receipts. Guy was selling it because the wife made him “thin out the herd.” Guy had an STi, couple large trucks, an FD RX7, & MK IIII Supra. He held it for me with no deposit until I could get from Buffalo, NY to Virginia Beach to pick it up. He was very empathetic to my cause (I’d just parted with my WRX and missing her terribly). He knew what he had but said as far as the price, he wanted to make sure the RS went to a good home where she’d be appreciated. My mom and I took a road trip in her new Forester, visited family on the way, and I came home with a damn near perfect RS and a good story to start my history with her to boot!
