bought a 2000 L coupe ej22 with 154,000 and new head gasket, ball joints and front brakes and a couple other minor things with very little rust and very clean motor for 2,900. as is. new motor oil change but all other fluids were terrible. have put 4000 miles on it and no problems yet. was this a good deal? (also passed MD inspection no problem)
Back in 2006, I paid $3k for my 1997 1.8L Brighton with 92k miles on it. Only thing that was wrong with it (before I started trashing it) was the fuel gauge not always working (never figured out why, but it seems to work now after changing the pump).
Guy was asking $3400 and I didn't even bother trying to haggle, handed him the cash and he gave $400 back and said to go get some fresh tires. Probably helped that I was a young kid just starting college and he was a teacher at another community college.
I just bought a 1995 impreza 2.2 with a VF11 legacy turbo, wrx tmic, 2.5rs carbon fiber hood, and RS front bumper. It has 55k miles on it, but has doesnt run (cranks over). I paid $700 for it, and have no regrets.
I bought my 96 impreza brighton 1.8 with a broken clutch fork for 300 dollars it also doesnt have a title currently still working on that bit. :/ but it is currently running and driving and i will be rebuilding a ej25d that needs head gaskets that will be swapped in. For now its just occupying a place in my garage/driveway until the title gets resolved.
