What class would the ProECM put you in?

So if I get one of those ProECM's everyone is talking about, what class does that put me in?

In rally-x (aka real racing:D ), it would move you up to Open, I believe.
If you're talking about autocross, you can run STS, STX, DSP, EP, EM, SM with it. Enough choices. ;) You'll probably want to run STS, unless you are running a underdrive pulley, Anti-lift Kit or have done the grounding mod to your car. ( :curse: :curse: :curse: STS ) Hope that helps! :)
Grounding mod????

Can you elaborate on the grounding mod? This is the first I've heard of it. Also, even though STX allows the turbo-cars, they also allow an LSD to be added, which STS does not (IIRC).

Yes, but ONLY to cars that come from the factory with NO LSD. AWD cars (except for the rare ones with all open diffs) must remain with the stock LSDs.

These are the two most specific links I have seen:

http://www.lumine.net/subaru/legacyb4/tuning/earthing1.html

http://www.lumine.net/subaru/legacyb4/tuning/earthing2.html

But I know there's more out there on the subject. Do a google search. ;)
there was a thread about grounding mod here not too long ago. do a search and i'm sure you'll find it.
Geez, 10th, can't help a guy out huh? :p I think I'll have to censor "do a search" in the control panel!

Well, to prove we're not like other clubs, here - I did the search and found...

http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthre...rpage=15&highlight=ground engine&pagenumber=3

Voila!
 i wasn't trying to be an ass, i swear. i'm just lazy dag nabit.
Geez...I guess I should've searched before I asked a question.

I guess I could see some improvement in having seperate grounds for each sensor, but (to me) that shows poor design in the first place. I haven't noticed any hesitation in either of the Imprezas I drive. (except the 1.8 which is nothing but a giant hesitation until 3500RPM):biggest:

I don't think the grounding mod will move someone from stock class though. The others listed will though.

I won't beat the STX LSD allowances to death. Neither my 96 or 98 has an LSD, other years surely don't as well. The RAREITY comes with the years that DO have the factory LSD.

This applies to ALL the diffs not just the front or rear ones. All AWD Subarus automatically have an LSD in the center which is enough to disqualify them from touching any of their LSDs in STX. This modification to the STX Rules (it's in the April 2002 FasTrack) was made to allow the "AWD" cars that have 3 open diffs from the factory to add one LSD.

That said, the 98, 99 and 2002 2.5RS models should be able to perform an update/backdate to the 2000-2001 2.5RS rear LSD legally in STS/STX without a problem (since they are on the same line in DSP and it is in line with STS's "factory, viscous LSD" rule).

In fact, if I can find a good deal on a 2000/2001 rear diff with axles this season, I plan to do just that to my 1999 2.5RS in STS.
I think we're both on the same page, just maybe saying it in a different way...yours being more understandable! :D

 Hehe...probably...lemme go find someone else to argue with then... ;)
:run:

:D
Just run SM!

STS is for sissies! Right Opie? (sorry shane. ;) )
Maybe once the rules get a little more ironed out. There's still way too much bullshit over there for me to tip my hat into it. Besides...I'm having fun in DSP!

do same size pulley's put you out of STS?
Replacing Subaru crank pullies with leightened pulley is still being depated by the SCCA. For STS anyway.

It seems they have possibly dropped the grounding mod issue.
is there anywhere i can find updates about this?
You can join the STS list: [email protected]

I think that's what it is anyway.

(Note: I do not recomend this list, but it's where I heard the above info. And the grounding issue hasn't been dropped)
