Perhaps I'm a retard for not realizing it sooner, but the weight distribution on our cars doesn't seem too hot. On the drivers side there is the driver (duh) the washer fluid reservoir, the battery, and the muffler box. What evens it out for the passenger side?

Actually, side to side weight distribution does not matter as much as front to rear. Even when corner weighting a vehicle for competition you don't try to make all four corners even, you mearly try to make the difference between front and rear even percentage wise on both sides. If the right front is 58% of the weight on the right side, you try to make the left front 58% of the weight on the left.

That being said, the front rear bias on our cars is not very good, but can be made lot better by moving the battery to the trunk, putting on a carbon fiber, or aluminum hood, and using a lightweight front bumper beam.

all,

i had the battery removed to the rear right of the trunk and got my car corner weighed and balanced after installing the TEIN coilovers.

The guy at the alignment place told me that Japanese USDM cars are tend to have weight distribution issues due to the conversion from RHD to LHD.

with that said, we found that front left of USDM GC8 is about 150-200lbs heavier than the front right side.
but the rear is a little different tho. we found that out, w/ battery in the trunk, the rear right of my car weighs about 150lbs heavier than the left!! we think its because of the gas tank location. the main gas tank is located on the rear right side and w/ reservoir tank on the left. so that makes the rear right is a tad bit heavy.

hope this helps for future reference,

calvin

I'd rather have f/r weight issues than an aluminum hood. The stuff bends and dents too easily. Maybe if I were competing with corporate sponsorship, I'd consider the hood.
