I have a pair of Version 2? spats that I have acquired. What I want to know is.. what bumper do I need for these to fit, and how can I make sure they will fit. I'm assuming that I'll need a version 2 bumper. Only thing is, I've never seen one, and no one around here ever talks about them. Can anyone find a pic for me? I am going to try to get a pic of the spats up by Monday, and maybe some of you version specialists car tell me for sure.

Thanks

As Far as I recall the bumper you have is a Version 2 bumper:rolleyes:
That's what I was told.. But these things aren't even close to the shape I need.

Ok.. They fit on an EU bumper... per Chris Douma.

I wonder how much this is going to run me.

Interesting. I've read several times that the stock RS bumper is the v2, so I assumed v2 spats should be a direct fit... You should have heatgunned them before you painted them. If you heatgun it now, might mess up the paint. Got no clue what you can do.

I remember reading (on the other club) that the original theory was that since we had a v.2 rear bumper that's why the v.5 spats didn't fit. Then someone finally tried v.2 spats and found the fit was exactly like that of the v.5 spats.

If they're the same as the ver 5. you can make them fit better. You just have to do some cutting, you have to cut the part that bolts to the inside of the wheel well.

hopefully you can see what im talking about.

note the gap between the spat and mud flap.

They're a little bigger than the spats that you have, so the modding that you did will not work for these. Thanks for the advice though.

It isn't a big deal guys, I didn't trim any part of my spats, or go to the extent of buying a whole new rear bumper. get a tiny little stainless steel screw and screw in the ends into the bumper. You won't even be able to see the screws and they fit like a glove.

The spats you have there are NOT the same as what I got.

Yup, Peaty, those are the instructions I followed. (I've used a lot of those suggestions actually!).

The 2.5RS logo thingy is a Toronto Subaru Club thing. ;)

What is normally available is the V5 spats, and what we have is basically the V2 rear bumper. The V5 spats will fit on our bumper, as you have seen. I don't know what spats you got.. they look weird.

Yes.. They fit the Stock europe bumper. I'm not sure what the hell to look for..

It's driving me insane.

Again.. these are NOT the same spats as some of you guys have.

Matt, I think you have replica STi 22B spats there... I don't believe they correspond to any STi V# designation unless you consider the 22B a number. Anyway, the common spats, like on Yeoman's car, are V6 spats.

The ones you have are either Orciari or replica Orciari ones. Did you get them from Chris Douma (dutch555)?

There is a guy who used to be on our board who has OEM urethane V2 spats and they fit our stock V2 rear bumper like a glove apparently. They are a LOT bigger than the other spats and look more like a C-West spat. I wish I had a picture for you but I don't. He bought it from a Subaru dealership in Canada. Hope this helped somewhat.

Yeah, I bought them from Chris. He gave me the part number for the bumper that they do fit, but no one in the US can get it. (57720 FA 132)

Chris is refunding my money. :)

Matt, as far as I know, you can walk into ANY Subaru dealership and order that V6 rear bumper. My dealership quoted me about $330CAN for it... I think that's about $210USD give or take a few bucks.
