Ok first I'd like to start by saying hello. I'm a newbie from over the pond on this forum but hope it's somewhere I will keep coming back to :)

I own a 1998 uk spec turbo 2000 and after a good year of refreshing the car (welding , de denting ,replacing) and just generally straightening my subie out , the engine has finally gone pop after 178000 miles :(

So my first question is ( please forgive me if it has been asked before (being uk spec I hope not)) , shall I go to a 2.0 STI engine or look towards the 2.5 sti .

The thing I want most is some gut wrenching acceleration but at the most reasonable price. Basically if you were me what would you go for based on performance and easiest change. So yeah through some ideas at me and I'd greatly appreciate it :):)

It would be easier to throw another 2.0 STI short block in it. Going to the 2.5 STI heads and bottom end would require a harness merge, which is what we always have to do over in the US because we never got turbo GC's or GF's.
