Ok so ive looked around for a bit and I cant seem to find what I'm loking for. I have a 97 coupe that I'm doing a 5 speed swap. Originally auto. I pulled a 5 speed from a 95 impreza but it only had a single piece trans mount that is way off the mount holes. Like 8 inches. What H mount can I use to mount it. From which car.

You can use pretty much any 5-speed trans crossmember mount from 93-07, I think even later than that but I'm not 100% sure. I dont think they changed the mounting points during this period. Are you sure the holes on your chassis are there but just covered up? The auto/manual bodies are all basically the same for GCs. Definitelly 98-01 drivetrain parts will fit your car for sure.

Yeah the main points are there and I found the other plugged points. But the 1.8 5 speed is so much shorter. I just wasn't sure what H crossmember would fit. I'm heading to the junk yard tomorrow to grab one. I read some where that the 96 and older had a different mount and I pulled this trans myself and it was bolted right to the body, But it didn't have a crossmember just a single piece mount. I figured it would bolt straight up but I was 4 inches away and I haven't even mated it with the block. Thanks for the info. We have around 60 subarus at my junk yard so I should find something.

The earlier Imprezas had way less bracing, smaller brackets, etc compared to later stuff. IMO all you need is to find a later 1st gen impreza or use 1st or 2nd gen legacy parts for it to work. Im not as familiar with 2nd gen imprezas but I'd imagine most stuff works too.

To clear some confusion regarding the lower H-brace:

You cannot use a 93-96 H-brace in an MY97 or later Impreza.

Starting with the 1997 model year, the transmission tunnel was widened, thus the H-brace also widened. So, while you can re-use most things from 93-96MY, the H-brace is not one of them. On the bright side, however, you can use ANY 5-speed H-brace at least to MY2007. This was the issue I had when I did my 5-speed swap years ago.
