97 L sedan. I tested every gear with the starter and they all move the car. BUT with the motor running I can’t get into any gear. It’s a cable clutch pedal and is functioning.
I pulled the motor and clutch and everything look good. The trans shaft spline that links the motor has a little wobble to it. I imagine the gearbox is good since it moved the car. Would this be a somewhat easy fix if I open the trans? What part is it that’s failing in the trans?

I had this happen to me with my rs after my trans fork broke. But that isn’t the case with this one. I have a spare trans with a bad 5th gear also, thinking of combining the two

Update: clutch disc was rusted to flywheel. I had to rubber mallet it a bunch to get it off. I’m hoping that’s all it is. But if anyone knows anything it could be internally let me know thanks.

If your disc was rusty, that's likely your issue.
