Ok, this is becoming a pet peeve of mine...
We all know, that a 22B, or RB5, or Ver5/6 or whatever are all GC8 style Imprezas, why is it the new age guys feel they need to place those wings on their GDAs? Its blasphemy! (if that makes sense?)
I think, that the new age guys know that since their cars need to look better, they decide to take a bit of the good stuff from the OG Impreza :checkit:
Also, ever notice the most common FIRST mod for a wrx is a BODY KIT or [email protected]?!
HAH, people ask me when Im gonna get a body kit (those that know that the car comes stock like that) and I just say that it already looks like the sweetest car on the road, why mess with it ?
Sorry, just got annoyed from all the new age guys thinking theyre better since they come with factory turbos. (Although, I havent been beaten by a wrx yet, hehe)

i went to an auto-x today, and all the rex's i saw didn't have any style mods. only engine and suspension mods. there was a GC8 with a body kit there! this was out of 30 + imprezas.
note this was in san diego where it's part of style conscious southern california.

Please don't lump all the "New Age Guys" as WRXers. I bought a New Age 2.5RS. I bought it for several reasons. Strange as I am I like the looks, there were no good used 2.5s available, and the potential for the 2.5 is greater than the WRX. If you want to talk about living at the bottom, go to an event with an apparently stock 2002 2.5RS. So far, I get the feeling that the old school folks feel superior, because I bought a New Age, and the WRXers don't like me because I bought only a 2.5RS. :boxer:

It's either that or the fact that I don't shower regularly, haven't totally emersed myself into my car, don't have a normal job, have mostly grey hair, live in Indiana or a host of other things. Hell, reading this, I don't like myself either.:eek:

As my 16 year old son says, "If someone is going to "rice" out a car, they are going to do it even if it is a Ford Tarus." I have had my car 3 months(?) and have tinted the windows, put on a 20mm sway bar, lightweight pulleys and a CAI. I am waiting on a catback, so see all New Agers don't just Body Kit!:)

Exactly. No matter what car, they can do whatever they want. THEY'RE the ones who have to be seen in it.

Now if they ask your opinion on the thing, feel free to let 'em have it.

I just wanted to throw it out in the open...
Just think about it, the onslaught of body kits and light options for the wrx, vs the GC8 (real WRX :) )

I understand why you chose that car, I feel for ya. But you think you are at the bottom....HA!!!. I dont' have a WRX with a turbo, or a new age 2.5, or a first gen 2.5RS. So I am shunned by the WRX people who claim that my car isn't really even a subaru. And the 2.5 RS owners can beat my in a straight line, and if thats not enough, my car is an auto tranny! Go figure! And whats more, its old..a 1997, with 72,000 miles and growing. Oh yeah, and the paint is all chipped from driving on the pumice covered roads of Mammoth for 4 years. Top it all off with the beige interior, and you my friend, need to count your blessings!! :D

BUT, all of the above doesn't mean I don't like my car. And I am not mad at anyone...just so no one takes it the wrong way. I am just being a post whore so I can get it to say "2.2L" under my name!!

Cant they come up with something original?
I mean, they try to act like theyre in a total different league than us "slow non turbo guys" but then use our body parts?
well, they say, Imitation is the biggest form of flattery.:rolleyes:
