so Im still working on getting a wrecked sti and doing a full swap, but no one has any legal info regarding title, VIN's and such. Obviously I need the title to the car, what other precautions should be taken?
Subaru motors do not have the VIN on them so they are not traceable. You cant get arrested for having a stolen engine if they cant prove you stole it. Plus if you have a complete wreck pull the vin plate off the left strut tower and keep it as a souvenir. that way if the shit does hit the fan you can come up with a valid vin.
Since you do not intend on registering the car you dont need that other stuff.
Title to the car doesn't even matter becuase once its swapped its useless anyway.
I think one of the important things, at least if you need to pass emissions, is that you need to have an engine that's newer than the car. You're not technically supposed to have an engine older than your car is.
Technically.
