Okay, lets see if we can get something going...
I know there is currently a racing shifter in development from levelten, but I would prefer something cheaper and possiblily it's programmable. I know where and how the part would be, but now I just have to get the spec from AUTECS inorder to continue the project. Please help if you know anything about hacking the TCU.

I would like to, but I am strapped for cash right now. Hey, I popped for the vBulletin which I thought was a good thing, and I can live with it for now!

And looks like I am stuck with my Impreza for now -it's been for sale for weeks and only two calls. Both wanted a 5-speed, so (darn) I am stuck with me baby!

dude, i went to the dealer and was going to pick up the TCU. but they forgot to lable it and trashed it. oh well, but there are 2 more sitting there, i just have to wait for another month or so. darn... maybe i'll go to junk yards instead...

has anyone sucessfully conver our stock shifter to anything else? Wondering how difficult would it be to install the predule shifter onto ours....?

Seems like converting a shifter is not impossible but just a lot of testing... Most likely I am going to buy a new shifter from Subaru and make it a gated shifter with my own shift pathern...

i can not change in the inhibiter switch, well actually I could. But the shifting cable is moving not only the inhibiter switch but also some part inside the transmission. But the good news is I got some prototype going tonight. I hope to have some pics tomorrow.

What's the inhibitor switch - that thing that keeps you from shifting? It's electronic and I am sure you know it's controlled by the brake light switch. That would be an easy rewire to give 12v constant and keep it open.

in this case. it's just a 'sensor' that tells the TCM where the shifter is at. doen't matte what we do to it, the shifter cable will still shift component(s) inside the transmission.

I am VERY close from getting a 5-spd so I might not continue with the TCM/TCU project. Do you want to take a shot at it James? I have two TCUs and I am going to give one to Andrew from i-club since he asked me first. But things are not finaliezed yet. I need to get the darn loan first. anyways, wish me luck buddy!
