If you run a very hot engine, or live at high altitude, your coolant will actually stay in the reservoir instead of blowing the cap off the radiator.

So is there any harm installing the STi "high pressure cap"?

when you place liquds under pressure, including anti-freeze, you raise the boiling point and lower the freezing point. the radiator cap shouldn't harm anything, though it won't help anything either, unless you've been having cooling problems, in which case you'd want to change the thermostat instead, most likely.
