Hi i have a version 5 sti transmission which has a center diff that is going out and im trying to find a replacement. I saw that the 04,05 forester xt is also a 4.44. Does anyone know where i could get a 4.44 center diff for to replace mine other than the dealer since thats going to cost way to much. Also can the center diff be rebuilt? thanks for the help.

Center diffs are not gear ratio dependent, you just need to make sure they are the same style the rear gear on the transmission. I believe that is the same as newer RS and WRX.

Post your transmission ID number, its a white sticker by the starter. This way we can know what were dealing with exactly. Theres LOTS of changes year to year with trannies.

Anyone that knows what i can use??
Since your trans is a Phase 2 transmission, you can use ANY 5-speed differential from ANY Subaru from Model Year 1999 and Onwards. It doesn't matter if the transmission itself has a different final drive or gearing.

But it must be from MY99 or later.
