First off, mods if this needs to be moved to a tech section please do.

So I have been noticing a few threads lately about tire choices and the confusion of what defines an R-Comp tire. To me, an R-Compound has a treadwear rating of 110 or less as I have always understood it. Has the definition changed or are there more misinformed people than before?

BTW this is not an attack to any member, just trying to spread some knowledge!

Usually anything with a UTQG rating below 140 is considered an R compound.

Good to know. Where did you hear that from if you don't mind?

That sounds like SCCA Street Touring autocross rules, it requires a minimum 140 treadwear tire (minus an exception or two).

^that and most time attack series draw the line at 140 treadwear for their Street classes.
