Question about the WRX

I'm just curious if it's more the car or the drivers that bother everyone? I'm assuming the drivers, but I'd like to hear what everyone has to say.

It is not the cars, and its only about half of the drivers. One half is good, while the other half automatically thinks that the turbo=ThE sHiZnIt. The reason I stopped going to I-club a lot is that half the people over there have no clue what they are talking about. That and I am convinced that I-club's search function doesn't work. Every other thread is what BOV should I get, Should I run insane amounts of boost on stock internals while putting 87 octane gas in my car(sorry, exageration), etc.

The one other thing that annoys me over there is how the GC8 and the new new age RS/TS just get the crap abused out of them at times.

Oh well, thats enough of a rant from me.

I came over here mostly because it is a much calmer, nicer atmosphere. I love it here; I got free stickers, the Scooby of the week changes, there's no drama, and generally no flaming and shutting down of threads, that I have seen. When I left, it was starting to get bad, to the points that you made. It seems that some WRX owners just won't acknowledge their car's roots (GC8), possibly because they are slower in stock form? I have not been attacked personally, but I have seen it quite a bit. Anyone else?

It's definitely the drivers, and even then, it's only a small percent of the total, kinda like Honda drivers. I know several people who drive both, and they are all cool, but there are WRX drivers who started out as the snot-nosed bastard Honda children, and have since moved up. But it's definitly not the car, although they gotta do something about those headlight!

It seems to me that a lot of these WRX owners are completely unaware of the GC8, or that there were (are) bigger badder versions that never made it across the pond. They are all the product of Subaru's wildly successfull ad campaign. Most of the people I know who knew nothing about Imprezas prior to that one fantastic commercial (you know the one) NEVER NOTICED WHAT THE WRX CHANGED INTO. The commercial screamed the Impreza's illustrious history in the would-be buyers face but they failed to SEE it. They're just ignorant, and they're ignorance breeds arogance. I myself have warmed up to the WRX, I've driven it and have come to the conclusion that I expected to, it's a fantastic car. I was so close to buying one after that test drive, but I'm keeping my GC8 because they're so rare (at least in the Twin Cities). WRXs are a dime a dozen here (relatively).

I like it here, we're all just chillin.

And the site is updated regularly, (THANKS JAMES!) As far as the car/owner issue. It's both.. The car cause it's got this honda/focus/mercedes-ugly-ass-headlights thing goin on... I am a tried and true subi owner but I can't help asking WTF? The owners cause they don't know about my car, THE REAL rally car, and most of them are pretty arrogant.

I have to admit, I kinda like that whale tail.. I'm thinkin I might need some therapy on that point though.. Who knows.

I don't like the look of the front of the New Age Imprezas, especially the headlights. The back and side of it look pretty cool though and I do like the fenders. I think it's pretty cheap of Subaru to not paint the mirrors! Yuck! :barf: A lot of the WRX owners suck too. It really annoys me when they don't even know that the WRX is an Impreza.

They do paint the mirrors, don't they? All the WRX's and new 2.5RS's and 2.5TS's I've seen had body-matched mirrors, as far as I can remember. i also went to www.subaru.com , and looked through the whole lineup, and all the pics they showed had painted side mirrors.

They paint the mirror, but not the thingy that connects the mirror to the car. Whatever that's called...

I personally like the WRX but would prefer something more rare like the STI. I have thought seriously on several occasions of trading my gc8 RS but the rareity factor has forbid such a thing to occur. Like most everyone here, I too felt it was time to leave the other club due to its focus on a vehicle I did not own. I also felt out of place because I did not share the egotisticle views as many of the WRX owners. Thank you for reading my thoughts.:barf:

Agreed. I wouldn't really mind having a WRX, but I'm not giving up my RS for one unless it's an STi.

With all the paint Subaru saves on not painting that, they can probably paint a couple more cars!

If I had a New Age, the first thing I would do is paint those mirror things.

This is somewhat on topic: it's really annoying me when WRX owners on the "other club" blindly reply to threads assuming that every thread is about their car. :boxer:
