couldnt handle the awesomeness of the GT30! let me know if you figure out what caused this. im building a similar setup at the moment (GT30R twinscroll, EJ255w/205 heads) and i want to avoid as much of your misfortune as possible! good luck!
Well found out what it was that caused the HG to go prematurely. When I put everything together, I used the included instructions that came with my arp studs. Said to torque the heads to 72ftlbs. Followed the instuctions. Got it started up and noticed a coolant leak from the driver side. Learned by talking to people and searching the forums that the nuts need to be torqued on the higher side. Near 85. So I tightened the driverside head to 85. Completely forgot to do the passenger side, since it wasn't leaking. So it sat at 72. Then upped the boost and boom. Leaking HG since it was torqued in too loose. By this time, ithe HG was done and had to replace it.
Just finished puting in a new HG, cleaned the surfaces up nice, got a spare cometic HG, copper sprayed it and installed it.
Good as new.
Up next: timig belt, tranny, radaiator and start up.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY
ID Vehicle: To simplify repairs/fixes/etc I'd love to know the cars history.
Main focus: handling, functionality, reliability.
End goal, yes the beaten horse "22b" exterior styling.

Later found out it was involved in an accident or 2, was pretty bummed about that. but i finally got a 2.5rs like i've always wanted.
Greetings. This thread has been a while coming but I figured now as as good a time as any to begin as I have finally finished repairing my Outback Sport and am able to focus more on my RS. A little history: I purchased this car approximately 2 years ago following the sale of my 2004 WRX. I...
I've been browsing this forum for a bit and finally have a reason to create a journal. My name is Jess and I purchased the RS I wanted in July 2013. I had a couple opportunities to purchase a sedan RS, but I wanted to hold out for a coupe. Being that I lived in Oregon, the prices for...
In anticipation of needing another reliable daily driver car, and having always wanted to build a GF wagon, I've been looking for a clean wagon for a month or so. This past Friday I purchased this 1998 Impreza L wagon to be the basis for the project. I'll use this journal to document my plans...
