Hello everyone,

Dom @ Turn in Concepts initially built this car for his family as a reliable transport vehicle, functional cruise control, ice cold AC.
Currently tuned for gas mileage, reliability, and to preserve the 5speed at ~13psi... Only 6000 miles on the engine.

Car is at Broken Motorsports in Union City, New Jersey getting a Ver7 STi 6 speed installed at the moment.
This ofcourse, is in preparation for what's next in the plans... an S202 ecu, AVCS control... and powerrrr!

Car is now Version 7 STi Type-RA 6 speed equipped
Making 278whp/287wtq @14.5psi uncorrected!

Compression numbers: 140 135 140 135

First, let me introduce my Subarus;
1998 Impreza JDMLRSTi :yapyap: , (L, RS everything'ish, EJ257 block, Ver8 big port heads, Ver 6 4pots. etc.) Built by Dom @ TiC
2011 Impreza WRX STi

Second, let me introduce myself... I'm a car fan, love most things automotive.
Subaru is cool, Ford is cool... Even Mitsubishi! Since I was a wee little thing growing up in Denmark cars have been my thing.

The first car I bought with my own money was a 1989 Merkur XR4Ti

I was 17 when I bought it, and regret that I don't have it anymore... I blew the turbo up and installed a hybrid t3/t4 but never got boost under control...
Turned 18.. was out on my own and just wasn't taking care of myself or my car... In the end my parents donated it somewhere, I still have the title laying around.

After finding love at 20, my life took a huge turn up and has been better ever since.
I bought a Lotus at 24, and slapped a supercharger on it

220whp in a 1950lb package

Two years later my wife and I decided we needed something a little more practical, sold my wifes Mercedes CLK430(Thought I'd sell the Lotus? Hah!) and picked up our first Subaru! A 2011 STi with 7 miles on the clock

About 4 years ago, I decided to jump into something I've wanted to do since I was 14... Stage Rally. So I bought a prepped rally car, and Rally-X'd it...

I never got to rally it unfortunately and as of yesterday, that car is sold.

In pursuit of a way to Rally while I prepped my own rally car, I decided to give co-driving a try.

First Rally, in a very well prepped EVO IV, driven in Gentleman Style by Tom Barton. Managed 3rd place!

Second Rally, with the son of Tom Barton.. Brian Barton and his Turbo 323

Third Rally, with Gary DeMasi in his custom V8 Extra Cab/Short Bed Ranger... Affectionately Known as Scary Gary!

After my first 3 rallies... I decided to approach Erik Potts, who was looking for a co-driver.
Erik's team usually fielded 3 cars. Jaws, with Michael Reilly/Josh Benthien. Red, with Tyler Rohrer/various.. And Martini/Ford which was Eriks.
The team employs a full service crew, which takes stress levels at events way down!

My willingness to get into a rally vehicle with Gary DeMasi convinced Erik that I was up to the task.
Our first Rally together was to be ESPR, which I had done the year previous with Brian Barton.

We really clicked on the 2nd day... And it turned into 1st 2wd/3rd overall of ~40 entries

Next we did the New England Forest Rally, DNF'd with a broken tie rod.

After that we did Black River Stages, DNF'd with a broken radiator and grenaded exhaust manifold

We're currently looking into picking up a Subaru for the 2015 season

Picked up an S202 ECU for a few bucks more than what a standard V7 ECU would have cost me... I went for it, just for the cool factor.

Special thanks to Vaughn/Vogun16 for helping facilitate the purchase and getting it to me from Japan!

All of these things sound amazing!

love to see more rally theme'd builds.

I look forward to reading about the car and your co-driving experiances. (I co-drove once at Sno-Drift, it was a blast).

Thanks! Love your build, mean, and hella-functional!

I intend to keep this car sleeper looking until it's making decent power, then I will go with a Tarmac Rally/Time Attack functional look.
if I get the spare cash and time it might even get an FIA cage in it and.. *gasp* get rallied. Though that would be a shame, as good of condition as it's in.

I've not had the chance to do Sno-Drift, but hear it's a great rally!

6 speed is in, few problems from the supplier, but zero problems with Broken Motorsports.
If you're in the North East, need a Rally car or Doriftooo car built, Billy's your man.

Car drove home great, had the 5-speed, and tons of parts in the trunk. looked kind of funny.

Yep, TY856WB1CA.

Had been looking for an 02 RA Spec C, with the external oil cooler... close enough, maybe I'll add an oil cooler down the line.

Yeah ive heard of those, doesnt seem like too common of a mod after the fact. You planning on a trackdays/continuous lapping?

Trackdays yes, not intending anything competitive though... Maybe Auto-x if I find a local group, just for the seat time when I'm not co-driving.
I got invited to do some ice racing in Upstate NY over the winter, the guy who bought my rally car is one of the organizers.

That front diff should definitely help with the loose surface racing. Made mine handle more liek a awd should rather than somthing halfway between rwd and awd. Have you had a chance to notice the affects of the suretrac r180 rear? Im r160 viscous regeared, and trying to figure out whehter to search for one of the clutch vs suretrac r180's.

Only had a short drive home so far, and it was mostly stop and go on the highway... Not great driving, but it works for breaking the clutch in.

I went with the R180 and rear v7 hubs just to make it a little more simple and strong. I didn't want to spend time regearing, or looking for an old school R160.

I'll take her out tomorrow on some back roads, hoping it's not going to feel more "understeery".

Yeah i grabbed a old r160 for the ring and pinion to throw into my r160, only thing i didnt know is that there are different "phases" of the r160 somehwere in the early 90's they switched from m8 bolts on the ring to m10. So im running a regeared r160 that has sloppy bolts and wasnt shimmed. Hasnt blown up after 5000mi, yet :noes:

I saw your RS at TiC when it was for sale. Very impressive build, and absolutely no rust for an awesome price. I'm glad it went to a good home.

One of the V7 axle boots are leaking, but not torn... Broken Motorsports had one of them rebooted because it was torn when it arrived, now this? Getting a bit annoyed with the supplier.

So far, they've had to send a shifter they didn't ship, didn't send the downpipe bracket, left off various rubber grommets, sent me half a shift knob, and apparently two **** axles.

Turns out the boot is torn, will get it rebooted.

Just ordered Morettes from Z1auto, won't be here until late December, Christmas present for myself. :D

Took the axle out and called around, no-where local was willing nor able to reboot it.
Billy at Broken Motorsports got me in contact with Axle Exchange in Fairfield NJ and they took care of me.

Got the Axle back in, and everything torque'd to spec then took her for a ride, feels awesome.

Next up, tune... Not sure if I want to put in the S202 ECU and activate AVCS, since I don't have a relationship with a tuner yet.
