Hi guys. I want to polish my ludespeed stage III ic. anyone know the proper tools/techniques to do this?

I started it using a dremel and their metal polish compound. It will take FOREVER that way though!

Thanks.

:D Yea, I polished my IC, looks great, took a while tho. First off, you have to take the thing out of the car (obviously), and clean it as good as you can.

I used some Mother's Aluminum polish, and a ton of elbow grease. Stay away from that Eagle Blue polish crap, it'll stain. Do VERY SMALL SPOTS at a time, or you'll go thru rags like crazy. Just follow the instructions on the jar of polish, and repeat quite a few times.

It took me about an hour to complete, the IC likes being clean, and it looks great. I burned thru quite a few towels, and I went over each spot about 3-4 times before I moved on. You WILL get that crap stuck between the fins, just use a lite spray of water to get it out.

[EDIT] I didn't polish the bottom of the IC. :p

Well, I'm stumped.. I've looked in PepBoys, Home Depot and a whole bunch of other places, but I can't find any of this "Elbow Grease" you speak of? ;) The guy at PepBoys tried to sell me a set of "Piston Return Springs" though. He claimed a performace change of -0.5 to +0.5 HP!!! Wow! lol. :D

looks good.

back to my problem now tho,

my IC was used, and has lots of scratches on it. and a result, when i polish, those scratches are still there. any way to get rid of them? i also have all this bumpy crud along the edges where the pieces were welded. need to get rid of those too...

otherwise, that mothers stuff works really good. the parts that were clean to begin with, look really good!

thanks guys.
