Just today, I was talking to a friend who just recently got an RSX type-s and I just got really discouraged about my car. I have a 99 RS, that's basically stock, and i started wondering why I got my car in the first place, IT'S SLOW! I started thinking that even if I were to go get a turbo kit, it could run me to around 7G's after installation, while my friend has a v6 accord and got it for only $15, would not be that far behind in a race.
*sigh....*, I'm just very discouraged and I kind of want to sell my car for a GSR or something.... :(

Scooby of the Week. Kinda says it all.

AWD.

Great looking. Better than a Honda/Acura/Toyota IMO.

AWD.

Easy to turbo.

Elite.

Did I mention GREAT LOOKING?

AWD.

Um, take your friend to a SCCA event and see what happens.

yes ive thought of the same things. ive actually been wanting to sell my car and buy a C4 Vette or an ~87 Porsche 944 Turbo. those would be fun cars but insurance would be a bitch. personally i never use AWD to its full potential and thus the reason why I wnat to convert over to RWD. oh well ill just stick with it until i can afford a crazy fast car.

Maan I wouldn't use that scooby of the week if you're trying to remind him why he liked the car... It fits right in with the riced out Hondas on the Mother's car show.

The 1st gen Impreza came from the factory with some of the cleanest lines of any car available. Early 90's Sentra SE-Rs are also really clean. You can ruin any car with those cartoon body kits.

Bone stock, the RS isn't a fast car. It isn't an extremely agile car either. But with a few hundred in minor upgrades (sway bar, tires) they handle very well, considering the amount of upgrades done.

With an intake, exhaust, and UDP, it gains a little extra pep. Add a short throw shifter and you've got a really fun car to toss around. The AWD is only a real bonus if you live in the land of snow & ice, or flash floods. But really... what's the competition? Last year when I was looking, it was: Integra GSR/Type-R, GTI GLX (or GLS w/1.8t), Eclipse GT, maybe a Celica, Nissan didn't have jack, Mazda didn't have jack, Focus (get real), Neon (did I mention I won't buy another American car for a daily driver?), and nothing from across the Atlantic. For $20k, a lot of those cars weren't even close to the RS. The GTI was the closest competition (I wanted to be able to haul 4 adults comfortably), and it was a) not available, b) more expensive, c) not as good for ski-trips.

I know exactly why I bought my RS... why did you buy yours?

I bought mine because I love the way it looks, it's great in the wet weather (which we get plenty of here in the Great NW), and it's a blast to dive. My last car was a 91 Camaro RS with the 305 V8, fun in the straights when it was dry, pain in the ass to drive most other times. I only have a CAI, K&N filter, and Stromung dual-tip exhaust, and I can consistently turn 7 second 0-60 times which puts it right in the same class as Integra GSR's, Celicas, and the like. But I can still pull those times when it's wet out, and they can't. Plus, I can pretty much out-handle any of them, thanks to the AWD and rear sway bar. And that's why I bought my RS, and not something else. Best bang for the buck.

Everytime I open the garage door I fall in love time and time again. Also don't forget that the RS is unique and is still a rare sight on the road with only about 14,000 or so built over 4 years. can't say that for an accord or integra. Also, I heard that you can get a pretty good turbo kit for less than $7. maybe $4-5?

You're saying I've got bad taste in cars or sumtin' buddy? :boxer:
Um. Quite possibly.

Besides... the kid who owns that car is a punk.

There were only about 14,000 of them made, then probably 1000 of them were crashed into poles, ditches, fences, fields...

And then a couple hundred people put the RS bits on their non-RSes.

Oh no, Adam's car is an RS... and he's got a lot of awesome stuff in it. I'm just not a fan of the whole riceboy scene... the body kit, mirrors, unpainted parts (including the hood), and I'm not even a fan of the huge wing.
