Will update this more later. I’ve had the car for a few months and have already done a ton of work to it. I plan to take it track and auto-x on the weekends. I’ve taken a 10 year hiatus from the building scene but bought this POS to get back into it. I suck at taking pics while I’m working on it so I apologize in advance.

1997 Subaru Impreza 2.2 auto w/140k-$700
JDM Wrx 5spd driveline (sans engine)with 4.11:1 final-$1000
New master/slave cylinders and lines-$50
Competition lightweight flywheel -$150
Cobb short shifter

02 Wrx rear subframe, arms, hubs, brakes,etc-$100
02 Wrx front struts subframe, steering rack, axles, control arms, hubs, brakes, etc-$100
Stoptech stainless brake lines on all 4 corners-$70

RPF1’s with 225/45R17 BF Goodrich gForce Rival (track)
JDM v7 gold wheels with 225/45R17 pirelli somethings (street)

Bought but not yet assembled/installed.

That’s all I can think of now. Suspension and drivetrain are just about complete. Engine is next. Engine will be:
05 RS ECU, openECU tuned
05 RS SOHC heads (valves lapped, new stem seals)
EJ255 block (cleaned and honed)
EJ257 crank and rods
ACL race rod/main bearings
11mm oil pump
EJ253 pistons
EJ257 headgaskets
Wrx exhaust manifold
Catless uppipe
16g turbo
Wrx intercooler
Catless downpipe.

Installed wrx calipers and rotors with new pads and SS lines on all 4 corners.

Didn’t install the Wrx front subframe and rack, need to figure out which u-joint I need to connect the column to the rack.

5/15/18 - Installed L&E u joint adapter for GC column to GD rack. Installed wrx front crossmember, rack, control arms.
5/15/18 - Installed crystal clear headlights and crystal amber corners.

257 crank and rods spec'd and assembled. Cylinder bores measured and ready for hone and assembly.

Progress is slow. Somehow I lost (threw out) my 257 oil pickup so I'll need to get another one of those. Heads are on. Need to adjust the uppipe/manifolds to clear the head.

05 RS harness dissected and ready for merge. Anyone know if I will run into any issues with having the CAN bus wires to the ECM disconnected? Looks like they only went to the TCM which won’t be installed as it’s all going into a 5spd car.

22 is out. Just gotta weld my oil pan for the oil drain return and I’ll drop the 25 hybrid engine in. Having a newborn hasn’t left me a lot of time but it’s getting there.

Anyone have any ideas on what CR I will have?

255 block
257 crank
257 rod
9.8:1 forged pistons
ej25d SOHC heads
257 MLS gaskets

I'm not too concerned about it TBH

Almost been a year since the last update! Fuck me. A week or so ago tested the ECU and confirmed communication and flashed it. I hope to finally fire the engine tomorrow (still far from complete). Working on this for a few hours every other week has not been fun.

Wait... What heads are you running? 25D has DOHC, thinking you've got 251 heads if they're SOHC.

STI heads are like 55cc's, 251 heads are 50cc's, and 25D heads are 46.6cc's. Either way, your CR will go up, by either a little or a little more. I doubt you'd be over 10.5 tho, assuming the forged pistons you have are meant for an STI block/head.
