I am getting a scratching noise for about half of each revolution of my passenger side rear wheel. The noise is like what you hear when you sharpen a knife on a sharpening stone.

This is on an MY05 RS with rear disk brakes.

I have removed the rotor and checked for debris, adjusted the parking brake shoes and cable, greased everything down and even tried replacing the return springs, but no dice. The forward shoe seems to be rubbing on the drum every half revolution. There is a little forward/backward play in the shoes after releasing the hand brake, and pushing them back seems to keep them off the rotor a little better.

The rotor doesn't look warped, but the inside surface is not wearing evenly. There is a band of rust all the way around the center of the friction surface.

The only thing I can think of at this point is to try replacing the rotor.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
