Now that this forum is here...(Thanks James) everyone can use it instead of the 1/4 times, how to launch, etc. that's in general.

Yay!!!

So the fun starts this week for me.:D

cool. me thinks this will be a very inactive forum though. but who cares. time for me to bask in the glory of my mighty 15s car, and my mAd dRivINg skillz y0!
went to MIR last weekend. first time id ever dragged any car at any dragstrip. only got a chance to get one run in and ran a 15.493 @ 87.25mph. woo-hoo, stuck the launched at like ~4500rpm/
full times are as followed..

R/T 1.264 (eewww)
60` 2.055
330 6.327

1000 12.909
1/4 15.493 @ 87.25

Nice time..once that reaction time getrs down some I get you'll have a better 60ft. Which will always set the overall 1/4 mile time.

It may seem inactive compared to SCCA and the otherr forum but at least it's here, it we're not gonna have one motorsports forum then...I want a home for me, cause I drag.

Plus it'll help rid some of the clutter around with...How do I launch?...What's everyones 1/4 mile times, etc.:D
I can't go drag racing until May 23rd :( At least it'll be all new this year :D
Hell yeah! I'm more than likely to go to Rock Falls Raceway, WI this coming Sunday. I just got my Gtech also, but I wanna know the what I'm hitting compared to other racers. If anyone's gonna be there also, I'll see you guys there.
Reaction time..

Just to let you know. Reaction time has no effect on the 1/4 mile time nor the 60 ft time. The clock starts when you cross the line! :) :biggest:

U can sit at the line for a minute and u will not have any slower or faster time. Reaction time is very important on Bracket racing or while a 1 on 1 race.

Richie

Concentrate on your launch not your reaction time!!
Ahh yes very true....reaction times will also differ depending on where you race..some start at 000 some at .500

Rember that as well.

A bad launch will kill any good 60ft time, which sets the 1/4 mile time..I should have phrased it that way...that just my taraese speak.:D Damnit I always do that.
Did you guys know that how you stage your car is very important to everything. Every inch you roll into the beams will lower your reaction time by.008 but increases your total et by.016. Deep staging will slow your et down by .10 secs. Just thought I would let you in on a bracket racing secret. There are so many people who don't realize this.

Wouldn't have guessed that...besides even if I remembered when I race I get scared so I inch up and soon as those lights say I'm staged I stop. Now if I could only launch good. *sigh*
Me too. For the life of me I can't let the clutch out slow enough to slip the clutch. My best 60 ft was friday night at capitol raceway in crofton, md. A 2.22 60ft. That's why I don't bracket race my TS. I don't want to tear it up. I'll stick with my racecar for now.
When I went launching away at RockFalls Raceway in Wisconsin, it was my first time racing there. I don't know how to launch.

I did my starts at 4000 rpm --> yellow X 3 --> green/full throttle/let clutch off. I kept getting 2.1 r/t and constant 15.7-15.8 times, but I knew that if I learned to launched not so hard, my Birdgestones can grab the pavement right then and reach the 1/4 with low 15's.
Launch when the last yellow starts to come on, not the green.

It engauges way too high(the clutch) doesn't make for a great launch for me...still trying to figure out a good launch on the 00, the 98 engauges nice and low right off the floor, much easier to launch.
I launch around 3,800....just slightly slipping the clutch so she doesn't bog, my 60' times average at 1.9...
check out THIS

thats why while your waiting for the last light i have the clutch lifted upto the point right before it starts to catch, then when the last yellow goes, just takes a little bit of lift...and im off.
I've yet to make that happen but I've tried...the car boggs hard when I do that at any rpm over 3500.
Went to my local 8th track, it was my first time dragging.
My car is a 02RS with a COBB CAI and Stomung catback (duel).
The track was slightly slanted down at the start so I had to keep tapping the breeks so I wouldnt red light.

Reaction: .917
60ft. 2.124
E.T. 9.915
MPH 69.109

The clock at the track started at .000 not .500 so I need to work on my reaction some.
