Okay so I've been on the Talon Digest for quite some time now. I don't know a whole lot about cars and I figured it'd be a good idea to 'get informed' from a bunch of people who all have some kind of variant of the same car I own. Anyhow, the other day I was checking my email and reading through one when I found something that I'm not sure about. Someone a few days before asked if there were any recalls on 91 TSi AWD's that mitsu/chrysler weren't talking about. Someone responded with the following:
"Just the secret recall to change the muffler bearings giving only 91 awd's 78
more HP"
I wrote to the guy who posted it to see if this is true or not and never got a reply. I own one of these '91 TSi AWD's and I want to know if there's any truth to this or not, for obvious reasons. Has anyone else out there heard about this, and is it for real?
OMG, I can't believe that someone actually fell for the muffler bearing thing! I had a friend who used to work out at the airport, and when they got a new guy, they would send him over to the comeption to borrow some prop wash :lol: And my bro works at les Schwab Tires, and he's gotten new guys to run down to the auto parts store to buy more compressed air for the air tank :lol: Gullible people are fun!
A few years ago, we hired a kid to help out at my former job for the summer. He had been homeschooled until he was 17 years old, and went to High School for his senior year so he could graduate and get a real diploma. Because of this, he had never been exposed to that naughty "outside world" and would believe ANYTHING!
One day, I handed him a coax cable and a little tester box, and said "test this". The tester had two coax connectors sticking out of it, and an on/off switch. Pretty self-explainatory, don't you think?
He asks "How?"
So.. in a VERY sarcastic tone of voice, I tell him "Hold one end of it in your ear, and put the other end to your mouth and talk. If you can hear yourself, it's good". I turned around to walk away and work on something else, and I hear him "Hello... Hello... Testing, testing"

Can't be any worse than conning a 'greenhorn' torpedoman into donning scuba gear and having him 'stand by' at the aft escape hatch (welded shut..of coarse!) to 'fetch' the 'mail bag' from the 'mail bouy' as the submarine transitted out into the North Atlantic for a 100+ day patrol!!!! He was soooooo disappointed when we had to 'cancel' the 'mail bouy stop'............ we didn't tell him 'till half way through the patrol!
We also sent the newbie Electronics Tech up to supply on the sub tender to get a jar full of neutrons.......... to start up the reactor!!!
We gave him hell when he didn't return with the jar of neutrons!

I saw that thread earlier but didn't read it, because I KNEW I would get pissed off if I did. Some people are just idiots.... idiots that will hopefully remove themselves from the genepool without harming anyone else in the process. Unfortunately, in drunk driving accidents, the drunk NEVER seems to get hurt.
I've lost a neighbor to a drunk driver... a really cool guy that got me interested in cars before a drunk driver killed him and his girlfriend one night. I've lost one of my favorite bands (Snot) to a drunk driver.... and a friend of a friend got killed a few weeks ago by a drunk driver. The woman that hit her is walking away from it without so much as a single night in jail, because she can afford the lawyers. In addition to being drunk... it was a hit and run.

I'm not sure what bothers me more the fact that he was stupid enough to do it then post about how cool he is or the fact that because of kids like him it gives me a bad name.
