Well folks,

Scooby South and Deadbolt didn't lie when they told us that they would make certain that the GC8 owners were not forgotten. The three of us travelled to visit a tuning and custom fabrication shop yesterday to talk to them about coming out with products for the Subaru. I am unable to tell you the name of the shop just yet, but they are huge in tuning some american muscle (turbo muscle as a matter of fact). We toured their facilities and looked at some of the current products they have. WOW. This is workmanship that is second to none. The quality is phenominal.

Anyway, they will be coming out with a cat replacement pipe (one high flow cat) and a cat-back exhaust. Everything will be mandrel bent and stainless steel. They are also going to come out with some products for the WRX as well, but we don't care about that here really. I can say that the cat pipe will sell for a good sum less than the unit Random makes, plus it should have smoother bends and flow to it as well, and will be designed to work with a cat back exhaust. There is also the possibility of headers later on as well.

I am just glad that we have some distributors out there who are not going to forget us.

If you are looking for exhaust parts requests then I say the following is needed in the 2.5RS world:

- STS-legal headers (very few of these currently)

- User-spec'ed volume levels and tip configuration in the catback (like Brullen offers but in a less expensive exhaust system).

If you heard the exhaust system that they already had made for the WRX, then I don't think you would be worried about teh noise level. The things had a great super low tone to it, but it was not loud at all. It had a great boxer sound. We talked specifically to the head engineer there and he rides in every test vehicle and listens to the exhaust to make certain it isn't loud or obnoxous sounding.

The great thig is that they will not be taking a WRX exhaust and modifying it. They will be starting from scratch for a system to fit and work specifically with the 2.5.

We may have to wait on headers from them. The big thing is to convince them that there is a demand.

In other words, if you are reading this and want headers that won't be shit like the Borla, or won't cost you an arm and a leg like the Brullen, and still be STS legal...

CALL BILL AT PRESTIGE!!! Tell him what you want. If he can convince them that there is demand, then they will make it!!!

I can't get to a phone right now but I do definatly want some cheaper, equal lentgh headers(don't care if ther STS legal or not), that are the same as the stcok headers so that they can work with the aftermarket turbo kits.

maybe off-topic but...

Remember that in addition to making alot of good horsepower, turbos are actually quite good as mufflers too. A deep toned moderately loud turbo exhaust may sound extra raspy or ringy on a NA car. Just something to think about, since I'm sure that this tuner shop realizes this. I can't wait to see who it is and what they're making!
