New member here!

I'm going to be mid-century (50) in a few weeks. I may be older than most Scoobie owners but I've got a very clean MY98 RS, black, gold wheels (I know some people don't like them - they are traditional though), SuperTrapp exhaust, Momo shift knob (shortshifter and new performance brake pads are next) and not much else (except a cool trunk monkey, Louis). I have 2 sons that are really into cars - autocross but no ricers in the family. They keep me young and we have autocrossed together and talk and read about cars whenever we are together. I sacrificed with uncool cars for years when they were young and now I can enjoy myself.

Actually I bought the car used from my oldest son when he went to an ITR. We wanted to keep it in the family and it replaced a minivan that I promptly sold to him for his beater work car. See how that worked out nicely?

Anyway I was encouraged to come over to RS25 from that "other" board. I too was getting tired of being relegated to the bottom of the heap since I don't own a WRX. Hey they wouldn't even have that car if it wasn't for us RS folks! So far I'm glad I'm here. Seems like a good group and hopefully more mature. ;)

Looking forward to conversing with you all.

Hey welcome to the club. We have meet before through Paul but there are so many people in Lersoc that you might not remeber me. This board is so much more in tune with what Subaru is about. It would nice to see the ole 98 doing some auto-x this year. You could probably put up some better times than that yellow ITR. We keep trying to get Paul to run the minivan, but he wisely doesn't. I hope you like it here. I haven't heard anyone complain yet.

Welcome.. You'll find that MOST of the owners here LOVE the 98 gold rims. If you EVER think about selling them.. you'll have about 20 replies interested. Me hopefully being one of them. Now give them too me!

I remember most of you guys from LERSOC. Glad there are friendly voices out there. Looking forward to Autocross season. I won't be able to do them as consistently as you guys, but at least a few tiimes. I have my other recreation to attend to, long distance road cycling.

The gold wheels will stay on for a while. I'm still adjusting to the SuperTrapp exhaust. I've only had it since Monday. Aaron and Paul sprang for it with the Mrs. for my early B-day present. Pretty damn loud with 6 disks so I took 3 out. Too quiet now. May step it up to 4 in a couple of days. Come Autocross days I'll put all 12 in and blast everybody. I guess it will hurt the low-end, but what the heck.

Talk to you later. I'm enjoying this board already.:)

Welcome to RS25. :)

I too am currently stuck with my stock gold rims.. There are quite a few people interested in buying them soo if and when you decide to sell.. It really shouldn't be a problem finding a buyer.

What rims are those?? (on the current "RS of the week")

If you do get of your gold rims, contact me first, sara needs a couple new ones from a little snow incident.

btw, she saw you the other day and almost flipped till she realized it was you. she thought there was another 98 black rs floating around.

talk to you soon.

Welcome! :) Do you whoop on your kids in autox? hehe ;)
The last time we competed in the same class, my youngest son beat me by a few tenths. I'll hopefully do better this summer. My oldest competes in another class and kicks butt. Placed second in the region last year and that was his first year of competing.

Maybe it is a "no fear" (not those stupid stickers either) or "less fear" thing that changes with age;)

Welcome Aboard the board!:D I'm sure you'll find that it's much more pleasant here than at that other place  I'm curious as to how you were "encouraged" to come over here? Well, have fun!

xMetal and I don't fight much:boxer:

He just "suggested" that I might find the crowd here a bit more interesting and there are more RS owners. The "other" board has become the land the REX. Man sounds like a bad Japanese movie that you might see on MST.

I do have a new exhaust courtesy of my boys for my upcoming birthday. SuperTrapp seemed appropriate since it less flashy, more performance, tuneable, and popular with racers and autocrosses (also cheap and that counts). I've played around with the amount of disks and have found 5 to be just about right. Louder than stock for sure, but won't piss (can I say that?) off the neighbors too much.:)

Yeah, you can say just about anything you want to over here, but trashing of the other club's members is frowned upon. I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

When you first said you were encouraged to come over here, I thought some of the members or moderators told you to get lost or something!
