Okay, even though I am sick, I had just enough energy to add two new forums in Muffler Bearings - One for Sightings, and one for Computer stuff (I dunno, seemed like we are all into computers, too, huh?)

Let me know what you think... :D

Well, at least if it's a MAC, you'll only have 1 finger on the mouse.

Boech!
Wait... I'm on a mac... and my mouse has 5 buttons and a wheel.... 3rd party hardware, what a concept!:nuetron:
Damn, mine only has four buttons and a wheel. But, it's optical, and very large - is yours? :p

mine is optical and cordless...i lose it like i lose remotes..don't ask :p

mine has the equivalent of 6 buttons :)

oh, and that's a nice photoshop job posted above. proof once again that all PCs do is rip off macs :boxer:
They have to make software for it before you can pirate it.

That's ok...all mac did was rip off the Xerox software. :p

My feeling is that neither is better/worse than the other...they are just different (in terms of performance/ease of use). However, I prefer PCs because I grew up using them and crashing macs. PCs also have a much larger range of hardware and software vendors to choose from.

I think it is so funny how Mac makes such a big deal about being able to write DVDs. I can do that too if I buy a DVD-R drive  The only capability that macs have that should be standard on PCs is the ability to read the others disks (macs read PC, but PC doesn't read mac). Of course, if I really want to, I can get software to do that too.

As for performance, have you ever seen the benchmark tests? They're things like doing 1000 word replacements in Word and one will beat the other by a fraction of a second...big deal.

Five buttons and a wheel on your mouse? WHY???? You only have five fingers! How do you move the mouse without pushing a button? My favorite is the Logitech trackball marble+ Very ergonomic, optical, has two buttons and a wheel (that doubles as a button). I don't see the need for more. Thumb controls the ball, three fingers control the buttons...I guess they could add another button for my pinky finger.

benchmark tests are pretty meaningless now because the chip architecture is so vastly different between mac and pentium/athlon. they just work in completely different ways. for just a run of the mill computer, PCs are way better. more software, more hardware, way cheaper, more support. but there's a reason Pixar and all the big (and not so big) animation/graphics companies use macs.
