I have a 2000 RS. I am trying to install the housing I bought to hold my super AFC. My air vents are attached to the center gauge pod. In the instrunctions that I received it begins to show that you would need to cut the pod from the vents, however they have the picture X'ed out and there is a statment that says you do not have to cut the vents if you have the correct housing. Well what would be the correct housing, they sent my this one.

If I have to cut the vents, fine, but it is going to be very difficult to get the cut straight. So does anyone have any advise for me. i have tryed doing a search on here and i-club but with no luck. If anyone could help it would be great.

Thanks,
Kristi

Right, but in that picture the vents are separate from the housing, however mine are attached. I would appreciate it if you would ask because I do not have a clue unless I try and cut it but I really do not want to do that unless I just have to.

Thanks brian

When I bought the replacement housing from SubaruParts.com it came with the vents part seperate like that. It was $65. Helluva lot easier than trying to cut anything. I dunno if it's worth it to you but...

Hey brian,

The super AFC seems to work pretty well. It has a continues pull to it now. It use to die off around 3500 rpm but now it just keeps pulling. i have read that the ECU may relearn but it can only relean the changes made to the low throttle possitions or that is what I read. I do not need any changes to my low end I need more pull at WOT so I ajusted my higher throttle settings. I am still waiting for my Greddy EGT and A/F gauge to come in. When that does i will be able to adjust the SAFC a little more accurately. The reason I bought the SAFC is to help protect my engine to some degree when my Zex's kit comes in, which will hopefully be next week.

If I do have to reprogram my car every month or so I find that as a small inconvience as long as my engine is safe.

About the vent. I am waiting on a reply from a guy I found on i-club. I am hoping he still has his vents available. Right now I just have a big open space where my vents are suppose to be. It looks pretty stupid but oh well. I am the only one in my car.

You will be fine doing the springs. I did mine with a friend and it was really easy. I had a little trouble getting to the rear shocks breaket. The bracket that holds the break line but besides that everything was fine. If you take the back seat belt out it is much easier to get to the top of the rear strut or it was for mine. Good luck on it. Let us know how it goes.

Well, since pics of my car are being thrown around, I thought I may as well respond :)

The center housing kit that I bought, that was $65, came with the replacement vent piece, so I didn't have to cut anything. This is nice, because I can just replace the old piece if I decide I ever want to get rid of the AFC. The genuine CF AFC-holder is from Kartboy, and is kinda expensive at $80, but is absolutely beautiful. I'm also waiting for a Greddy EGT, and already had my A/F gauge modified by a guy in Ohio, under the url gadgetseller.com. He will modify A/F gauges to be more accurate(i.e. higher resolution), and also to work under WOT, unlike the stock gauges. You might want to look into that. He got it back to me really really quick, and even calibrated it, so I know exactly what voltage each LED is. Right now, my AFC is just a pretty-light maker, but should come in handy when my headers and hi-flow cat finally arrive at Hybridynamics.

Good luck with your project!

Yes I have everything working great. The guy I purchased the center pod from is sending the vents. He just forgot. So needless to say I was relieved because I really did not want to cut the vents.

I am still waiting on my gauges and A-pillar pod. Hopefully they will come in by tomorrow or Friday. I am sending off my money for my Zex's kit today. So maybe I will get it by next Friday maybe Monday. It is getting there. I just have to wait but I hate waiting. :curse: Oh well.
