im currently looking at getting into and rs and have realized that in 99 they switched to a sohc. im looking at 98s 99s and 00s. is there any one year that is better suited towards tuning, mainly, if the breathing of the 98 is addressed will it then out power the sohc? also, how much does the 00s limited slip diff. help the handling? are there any other year specific differences you can tell me?

The SOHC actually makes 4 more lb-ft. of torque than the DOHC due to lower friction losses (ie. fewer moving parts). Also since the SOHC was in all 2.5RSes except the 1998 model, there are more parts available for it (cams, for example).

I've got a lot of the 2.5RS model year differences laid on on my website here: http://www.warpthree.com/info.html#stats

thanks for the info. one more question. why is the maf sensor on the 99 so much crappier than the other years. what limitations does it set on aftermarket parts. if it has to do with interfering with a turbo conversion thats no concern to me.
